Shinyface

Say the same thing enough times and the gullible will believe it's true.

Even downtroddy (or should that be Trolly?) must realise that he's never going to get independence. Even if the vote is Yes it will only mean a change of master from Westminster to Brussels or to be more accurate the Berlin/Paris alliance.

I was going to to vote Yes but you and the other Tories have persuaded me to vote No.

It's great being governed by Cameron and Co. He's even made it cheaper for me to play bingo now. Eutopia

If it was proper independence I'd probably be voting yes, the only thing holding me back would be another socialist overspending disaster that Scotland wouldn't have the reserves to recover from.

What has Cameron et al done that is worse than the previous mob? To me it's more what he hasn't done like getting multi-national tax juggling and avoidance under control, stopping nationalised banks from paying outrageous and unjustified salaries and bonuses. (All banks would be better, incompetent parasites shouldn't get high pay) Would it have been better to let the banks go broke? None of the politicians are worth a dam, whatever their declared colours.

What is this bingo of which you speak?

Westminster admits to anti-independence briefings

The SNP is today demanding full disclosure on anti-independence briefings the Scotland Office has admitted to holding with embassies all over the world.

At this morning’s Europe and External Relations Committee, an official working for Scotland Secretary Alistair Carmichael admitted: “I’ve briefed officials from dozens of embassies” on Westminster’s position on independence.

The official went on to list the countries involved, stating: “I’ve had that conversation with Russian officials, American, Canadian, Belgian, Philippines, Kurdistan, Italians. I mean it goes on…”

When asked to expand on what was discussed at the briefings, the official was prevented from doing so by Alistair Carmichael, who later stated: “This is one of my officials. He is answerable to me.”

The admission comes following revelations at the weekend that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK Government met and briefed foreign diplomats - including high ranking officials of Vladimir Putin’s government – against Scottish independence.

Commenting following the revelations, SNP MSP and Convener of the Europe Committee Christina McKelvie said:

“Today’s revelations that the Scotland Office – a UK Government department that is meant to represent Scotland’s interests – is briefing against Scotland is of great concern. The people of Scotland deserve to know what Westminster is saying behind our backs.

“The Scotland Office and the Foreign Office must now come clean and publish the detail of all of their briefings.

“Prime Minister David Cameron continually refuses to debate the First Minister in front of the people of Scotland, but he is content for his government to go around the world talking down Scotland’s future behind closed doors. This speaks volumes about the Westminster approach to the referendum.

“This is the kind of behaviour that shows exactly why the people of Scotland can, should and must vote to become an independent country, and represent ourselves on the world stage. With polls showing support for Yes at a record high, people are coming to the conclusion that Scotland’s future lies with Yes.”

Scottish Government Caught Giving Pro Independence Briefings (Shock Horror)

That's how it works Toddy. Now listen carefully. The SNP want independence so they tell everybody that it will be great. The UK government and 2 of the opposition parties don't want Scottish Independence so they tell everybody that it is not great. We, the voters of Scotland, and unfortunately that includes you, must decide which side to vote for having listened to both sides or in your case, one side. Everybody who is over 16 in Scotland gets one vote and after the referendum a man counts all the votes and the side that gets the most votes is the winner. You don't get extra votes depending on how many of the other side you can bore with a daily cut and paste but you will be pleased to know that the bad man (David Cameron) does not get to vote at all and Alex Salmond gets to vote, but only once.

Its not difficult to vote and grown ups have been doing it for some time. Its not like a test at school and you won't be sent to the naughty step if you make a mistake and put a cross in the wrong box so don't worry about it. Unless you are blind you have to go into the voting booth on your own without anybody to hold your hand but I am sure your carer will let you try out some pretend voting forms just before you go into vote to make sure you put your cross in the right box.

Remember after you have voted you can't change your mind so it might be safer to move any pennies you have in the bank to a bank that is not in Scotland until after the man has counted all the votes.

I hope this explanation helps you.

The SNP want independence ......

No, they don't, they say they do but they are lying. They just want to be out of the UK, they still want a comfort blanket and have chosen the EU. This means that Edinburgh won't make the laws, they'll enforce what Brussels tells them to just the same as Westminster does at the moment. We won't have a Scottish currency we'll be piggy backed on the success (or not) of Sterling. etc.etc.etc.

One thought, perhaps Trolly can ask for a quote on this from his boss or he may grow a spine and offer his own opinion, if real honest Scottish independence is such a good prospect, why are there no mainstream (?) politicians promoting it?

Because they all have vested interests in maintaining the status quo. It's obvious, isn't it...? :nenau

Excellent!! Accurate, witty, biting. An explanation a 3 year old could understand. Will Toddy get it? Not a chance! In a head to head with an Amoeba, Toddy would come second. He doesn't seem to understand the antipathy he generates, please God he'll never be on my side in anything.

Yes. One of the many reasons.

You could always explain exactly what 'all the vested interests' are??

I'd probably need to be a Tory, Labour or Lib-Dem politican to know that. Equally, do you know why they're so pro Union....? (Advance warning - if you tell me that the reason has something to do with altruism, I will laugh.)

So....no vested interests after all?

More twaddle and soundbites.

It's always nice to meet someone with an open mind, Gerry..... I appreciate that your game is that you want to prove that you're not able to be convinced but honestly, it'd be much simpler just to accept that you can't be and give up any pretence, wouldn't it...?

Could it be because there is no such thing as Scottish labour party or Scottish conservative parties registered in Scotland. The are actually just a subset of the UK main parties with the ultimate boss being in Westminster?

Let's flip the question round. If Scotland is so worthless and incapable then why do all the better together parties want to keep us? Why not just cut us loose and be done with it.

Oh and Alex isn't a main stream politician? He is the first minister unless of course you want to get rid of devolution as well.
