Or, in extreme cases - elevated to:
"Nah - cannae be ersed!"

I agree completely. However it gets worse, having extricated Scotland from the UK Salmond proposes to surrender independence to the EU, cruising down the road to a Federal States of Europe. Scotland would be about as independent as it is now, probably less so.
Assuming that Spain or another country didn't veto Scotland's admission to the EU does anyone believe that we'd get in without being forced to accept the Euro, or that we'd still enjoy a similar rebate to that negotiated by Thatcher for the UK?

... we use the word diffrently down here for example someone may say 'hey do you think that Ronno chap from the glens is a fine fella?' to which one might reply 'nah the blokes a thrush'

A good friend of mine who lives in Edinburgh used to work with Swinney and knew him quite well. My friend assures me he (not Swinney ) shall be voting to remain in the union.

I am quite sure that those of us who vote no will be cursed as an unpatriotic parcel of rogues and there will immediately be a legal challenge to the result on the basis that those who voted No didn't understand the question and thought they were voting for no union with the rest of the UK. This will keep us tied up with this debate for many years. When there is an EU referendum and the UK votes to leave the EU the SNP will no doubt challenge the result of that as well. Meanwhile things that need sorting will get ignored while we all study out own belly buttons.
