RT servicing costs (again)

Just been quoted £399 for a minor and major service on an S4 at Audi. Makes BMW bike servicing look a tad expensive...

I called in to John Clarks of Dundee, they quoted me £250 for same service I paid £330 for, raised eyebrows from sales manager when I told him what I paid.

My mate Pat booked his in for an 18000 mile service at Fairbairns Inverness, they told him the alternator belt was due for a change, when he queried this (it's due 24000 miles) they said okay leave it, it's extra £80 to do.

His quote was £330 for the normal 18000 mile service, so he tried Edinburgh Motorrad at Dalkeith, they quoted £225 for exact same service.

Pat called Fairbairns in Inverness to query their £330 but they wouldn't budge.

Was that the Sales Manager or Brian Malcolm (bald with a moustache) on the Service Desk in the bike showroom? Brian's a good guy. One of the reasons that BMW Motorrad dealership servicing is the price it is, is the cost of the corporate branding that BMW Motorrad imposes upon dealerships. However, it's no surprise that Arnold Clark is taking the piss. Google "Arnold sucks" if you want to know more.

i bought a belt from a BMW dealership for £16. It took me 20 minutes to remove the cover, the old belt and refit the new one and the cover. £80 seems steep even for a dealership.
