What is it like nowadays? I know the price is the biggest negative but are there better cheaper options out there?

Does anyone stock them in the south west where I can go and have a look? Went to Helmet City today but they don’t carry stock.

I bought their Kemi suit earlier this year and it’s by far the best suit I have ever bought.

I like the drop liner stuff and bought my current stuff in sales from FC Moto. Fuel trousers and Chariklo jacket cost around 300 euros each. I have used this suit in biblical rain and some very hot days when you get caught out by an unseasonable heatwave mid trip and do not have the mesh gear with you.

The twat in the hat at Motolegends has stated several times, that for most people, the cheaper Goretex drop liner stuff is a better buy.

Helmet City West Bay carries a small selection. If you know what you want to look at, phone them and ask them to get it in in your size. If you don't like/want it they will simply return it. They will happily get 2 or 3 different styles and sizes. They know Rukka or similar is a big purchase and want customers to be happy. It's best to visit mid week if you want to try several items on as the shop is really busy on Saturdays.

I've got a Rukka Nivala 2 jacket and I think it's brilliant. Warm, dry, reasonable vents and very comfortable. I was working at Helmet City when I bought it so got it a lot cheaper than retail. Don't pay full retail. Discounts are always available if you ask nicely.

Never quite got this argument.
With drop liner stuff the outer vents are practically worthless. The liner isn't fitted so doesn't keep you fully dry. The outer shell wets out.

My Mrs bought a new Nivala suit in Autumn last year. I was reasonably impressed so I also bagged a Nivsala2 suit in the sale.....
At full price I would question the value compared to other suits I own, but with 30% or so discount it seems good
Using it now for a 4500 miles tour to Romania
I still prefer my old Enduroguard suit tho, for features and perceived quality....

When we were looking at Rukka kit at the NEC, we were speaking to an apparently knowledgeable sales guy, and I asked about Rukka quality issues when they shifted manufacturing to china a few years ago. He did indeed say Rukka quality dipped at first but has now recovered to pre-china level....

I switched away from Rukka, as Hideout and BKS Made-to-Measure textiles are significantly better.

Many Rukka textiles are in the same pricing range as Hideout’s. However, Hideout gear is in an even higher league than Rukka in my experience.

Hi Jonny, any updates on the Rukka Kemi suit? I need to replace my Richa which has stopped being waterproof and the Kemi appears to be a good and cost effective replacement.

Its been superb so far -
Very comfy and not a let a drop of water in, even out all day, in proper scottish weather (aka monsoon!)

I am still very pleased with it
Off to France again in a few weeks on another tour around, so it will get another good outing and test.

Always leaked around crotch and jacket zip failed after 4 years .

Cost me £2200.

Sold it once zip replaced and bought laminated Bering Hurricane jacket and then pants from Motolegends. Got at half price so under £600 !
So about 1/4 price of Rukka . 100% waterproof unlike Rukka and much more comfortable.

I've worn Hein Gericke drop liner suits for over 20 years. Never had any issues with them, never got wet inside, even in torrential rain.
The pluses with drop liners is they are they are cheaper, and they are warmer because of the air layer between the liner and the the outer fabric.
The disadvantages are the outer shell quickly wets out in heavy rain (the liner does keeps you dry), but the jacket can become very heavy when soaked. Plus when you take the jacket off and hang it up it leaves a massive pool of water underneath it.

I now have Stadler kit with a bonded Goretex liner. It is colder than my previous drop liner suits, but I just layer up, it doesn't saturate the same so stays lighter and therefore no lakes of water when I hang the jacket up. You can no longer get Stadler kit in the U.K. (as far as I know), so if I was buying now I'd go for a Klim Kodiak suit (I believe these are currently in the sale at Motolegends), or the Rukka Nivala.

A friend has a Halverssons suit and says great things about it, another friend who has a suit from Dane and he is very happy with it. Both of these tend to be much cheaper than Rukka/Klim/Stadler.

Regarding the purchasing of Rukka, the nearest to you would be J&S in Plymouth, or Infinity Motorcycles at Yeovil or Southampton. You'd probably need to ring them first to see if they had stock, if not they may get it in for you to try on.
Sports Bike Shop will also get the kit in for you to try on, as someone has mentioned, the nearest to you will be Bristol. You can also order from them and return it (I think for free) if it doesn't fit.

Lately, I've bought most of my kit from Motolegends. Living up North, it's over a 500 mile return journey for me to visit the shop in Guildford so I've used their free returns service in the past to order any kit, try it on at home, and return what doesn't fit. You have up to 12 months to return it (but less if it was in their sale, you also have to pay postage to return if it was a sale item).
I've always found them really good to deal with, they will also price match any price, less a further 10%, if you find a genuine offer for the same kit elsewhere. I recently bagged a pair of Daytona boots, that retail at £499.99, for £269.99 when I found another store had my size in for £299.99!
Recently, on a trip to a music festival in Wiltshire, my Mrs wanted to divert to visit RHS Wisley. Finding out Motolegends was only 10 miles away I booked an appointment for a Shoei Helmet personal fitting service, dropped my wife off at the RHS Wisley gate and went back and joined her/picked her up a couple of hours later.
All I can say is I received excellent service from all the staff, they fitted the Pinlock and a Cardo Packtalk-S to the helmet, set the Cardo up for me, and they even arranged to courier the goods home so I didn't have to cart them around in the car for the next week.
The shop is well worth a visit, but it is best to let them know you are coming and let them know what you want to try on.

Look at other makes as well , I bought a Lindstrands suit 3 or 4 years ago , it is two layer laminate and also well vented and for spring, summer and autumn use it performs just as well as the Rukka three layer laminate kit (Arma S) and the drop liner (Orivesi 2 jacket) I currently own .
All the Rukka jackets I have owned over the years (4 in total) and two pair of trousers have all suffered from really poor ventilation in hot weather although are brilliant winter kit
Nowadays Halvarssons/Richa/ Modeka/Dane and many others make gear which is easily as good as Rukka but much cheaper

I’ve got the Hurricane jacket and pants .
Bought the jacket in their Sunday sale at half price . They then emailed a few weeks later asking if I wanted same deal on pants .
I see they’re now all half price anyway .
Best kit I’ve ever had . Comfier than Rukka Nivala and 100% waterproof, unlike the Rukka.

Have a Rukka Navigator suit. Have ridden 1000s of miles in all weathers leisure and 10 years blood biking. It has never leaked and still doesn’t. I do look after it, clean and nick wax. Been brilliant. Not sure if quality has dipped
