rusty headers question

Anyone had the exhaust headers changed under warranty ?

Mine are the chrome ones and seem to have suffered at the joint pipe

Thanks

I had a set replaced under warranty. The chrome plating is bloody shocking I'm afraid!

Chrome plated headers are yet more useless bling and fecking pointless except for the polishing obsessed:augie They are only exhaust pipes after all :D

If you get them replaced, go with the standard stainless which polish up well and get that nice blue tinge up by the heads:thumb

Isn't it the chrome ones that go nicely blue at the top of the headers, whilst the stainless go brown?

Yes think i need to have a chat with my local dealer

It is bad considering the bike hasnt been out this year very much as i started cycling to work (dont have a car) the bike was purchased as a used model even though it was registered by a dealer and had all the bits on it.

I had given it a three month wash :D and i usualy do all the routine bits of maintance etc and noticed how bad it was.

also the rear wheel has lost a bit of its seal/laquer around the centre hub and exposed the metal

On chrome exhausts do not use autosol as it is abrasive and scratches the chrome finish. Normal car polish would do for the chrome headers.

I have no problem so far with the finish on my bike but I tend to keep my bikes clean. 09 GSA with 12k mls and I'm not far from you.

To be honest I don't care if my exhaust rusts from front to back, just as long as it don't leak that's fine by me. I bought the bike to ride not to waste my time polishing it and besides, I can't see the exhaust when I'm sitting on it anyway so who cares.
