I’ve been after one of these for a while so I could get the XC out of the garden shed One popped up on Ebay last week and it was local. We did a deal and the seller even delivered it for me. :thumb2

Firstly a level base needed for the floor, this could be slabs or concrete. I went with slabs because we are aiming to get planning to put a garage up on the front of the house sometime soon so I didn’t want too much hassle for something which hopefully won’t be permanent.

Step 2 – Place metal base on slabs and bolt three sides on to it and together – about 20 odd nuts and bolts.

Step 3 – Roof panel goes on - about 30 bolts.

Step 4 – Drop hinges on to pins and screw doors to hinges.

Step 5 - Place trolley inside and slot in side wheels – this allows the trolley to run up and down inside the shed.

Done – Took two of us about 4 hours to build including doing the slabs.

Very easy to put together everything lines up perfectly.

The XC fits it fine with a couple of inches clearance all round – I had to take the mirrors off though as with my bar risers its just a bit too tall.

To use – front wheel of bike on to trolley clamp and push it in.

Mine shed has the short trolley – you can get a long trolley which I think the whole bike sits on but you’d need a 2.5 metre level surface in front of the doors for it to slid along.

All I all very impressed and it comes with a Thatcham cert so it should reduce my insurance as the bike is now officially garaged.

www.secure-a-bike.co.uk about £1750 for the basic model – I got mine for £750 off Ebay – I’ve seen them sell on Ebay anywhere between £400 and £1000.

Yep - you get a Thatham Certificate of Compliance with it. Thatham Category MCQ1. You need to quote that to your insurer.

Sorry paul - I posted a question asking if it classed as a garage, then realised I had not read your post properly so deleted it!
In the meantime you replied.
It looks great. Something to consider as we are running out of space in our garage.
