just had a phone call from Williams motoradd in manchester regarding a service that is due on my 2011 1200gsa the bike has done just over 27000 miles and i was told that the last service was done
last july at 21000 ish I have had the bike since jan and it had 25500 miles on it so I am thinking that this service will be the 25000ml on so as they are asking £297.00 , what is involved in this service .

Not sure what will be included in your service but for comparison I have just been quoted £410 for a full service, all fluids etc. On my 2013 GSA 15,000 miles.

dont think so as long as genuine bmw parts are used.call roy at rgm.

Has to be Genuine BMW parts PLUS Workshop must be VAT registered

Thats a reason I stopped doing it I wasn;t doing enough between the day job and it to need to be VAT registered

I dont think it has to be OEM parts as long as the are of equal or better quality.

24k is a big service. Abs if not done in 2 years, alternator belt plugs etc. Not hard but the biggest so far in 24k history.

Why risk invalidating the warranty, just use the main dealer.

You might save a few quid going to an indy, but its not worth the aggro of trying to prove work and parts comply with any T & Cs, whether they are petty or not.

Get it done at the dealer this time. Come 30.000 miles and the suspension and probably other parts are no longer covered by the warranty then you can choose to go elsewhere if you wish.

Call Jim Carrie Who is service manager at Williams, if you tell him you are a tosser he will look after you ... He is a top chap and very helpful .

What a load of bollox.....no offence. You can have your bike serviced anywhere under the warranty as long as BMW parts are used and they are VAT registered. The benefit of a good indie is you know the job will be done properly and the little things get checked and looked at.

Give Gary a call and www.adventurebikewarehouse.co.uk over in Manchester and get your bike serviced properly and also get some excellent banter if you fail to take biscuits. The money saved will buy you a few tanks of fuel and a few bacon and egg butties.

Steptoe might be within a reasonable travelling time.

An extended warranty (over and above standard warranty) might stipulate main dealer servicing. Check the Ts and Cs. If you don't have additional warranty then you will get a better deal at an independent.

Simples. Why not ask the people doing the service what is involved. How can anyone else know what they'll be doing ?

You have a mileage service and time lapsed service (annual). The 24K mile service is a big one, involving alternator belt as well as ALLfluids.

I doubt a main dealer will be charging £297 for all that work.

You don't mention the year of bike (different braking systems and spark plugs all effect cost).
But as a guide a 24K, including alternator belt change and ALL fluids, plugs and filters would cost from £300 including a loan bike
