The R65 likes to idle at 500rpm,but have been told damage will occur as no oil reaches timing chain below 900/1100 rpm, that seems too high to me. Any one know?

500 rpm ? That's like turing it over by hand surely ?

900 Is where my 80/100 like to be. Not sure about the R65 but that seems way to low to me.

slow tickover

Will tickover as low as
200rpm,seems settled at 500rpm and picks up immediately throtle is opened.Just worried about any damage to engine.

I dont know for sure, but I would say at 500 rpm, the oil will struggle to get around the engine, It's very low rpm that. 200 Is just asking for trouble surely!!

I can't believe she would tick over at 500 rpm. Steptoe can get his R100GS to tick over nicely at 900 rpm..and I'd suggest that as the minimum etc.

I prefer approx 1100 rpm just as the charging light flickers :thumb2

this is the firing rate for 500rpm

and I seem to remember that Biggusdickus combo ticked over at that rate
my 100 quite often settles down to around 750 (depending on the adv thingy in the beancan) which sounds like

any one that says it is too low is just jellous :P

bumpmuncher, I'd say that first clip, 120 beats a minute, equates to 120rpm on a boxer, not 500rpm. Likewise for the second, 180rpm. Or am I missing something?:nenau

4 stroke engines only fire once every 4 revolutions :thumb2 so every time it fires the engine turns 4 times so actually the second clip relates to 720 rpm

I know I have made 2 misscalculations not sure where but they cancel each other out lol

Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow

A cylinder fires once every four strokes i.e. every two revolutions. A two cylinder engine will fire once per revolution. One bang per minute= one rpm, 120 bangs per minute = 120rpm. 500rpm would be 500 bangs/beats a minute??

Think I have just figured out where my miscalcs were :thumb but I will stick with what I say about the BPM of the RPM. My machine fires roughly 3 times a second and the rev counter shows around 750 rpm

Diazipam/ vallium is no "aid de memoir" wonder how long the fecking stuff is going to haunt me

That's four HALF REVOLUTIONS :rob.

:D :D :D
