Small hole mystery

I'm sure you will feel better if you spend 5 minutes on the Explorer forum and read about the cylinder heads being replaced under warranty, this might help ease your pain. Just look under camshaft bucket service bulletin, you can't miss it's now up to 205 pages!

But at least Triumph have realised there is a problem and are being proactive about the situation, not just sticking there head in the sand and pretending everything is fine!

When the GS has been out a year BMW might issue some updates, Triumph haven't been on the ball from the start.

They also had accessory supply problems at the start. I know Honda have also had this problem on a lot of their new models over the past few years. Bet the problem all stems from the same departments (of mostly non-bikers):nenau

They need too! Have a look at some of the threads on this site! Clutches, switch gear, oil leaking, brake issues, panniers not fitting(how many washers have you got fitted?), traction control kicking in too early, etc,etc

Yes most of us agree that it's a good bike! But Imo the bike has been released to early ie not enough testing! Oh and the million miles before you start! Was done in the test cell! (From what i have been told by my dealer) Not real road riding in real conditions!

As it has all ready been stated in other posts, you pay for a top end product you expect to get a top end product, not being a beta tester for the sum of 14+k.

Welcome to the disease!:rob

Mine's fine, ordered last October delivered March, done 4500 miles and all good, panniers arrived with bike and they fitted, gearbox fine, no oil leaks, just a damn good bike all round - mine must have one of the first in the country but it certainly doesn't feel like a pre-production or beta bike - seem like BMW made a special effort to give me a great bike, but I am on my third 1200GS so perhaps they pulled out all the stops just for me :D

Ditto, though not one of the first in country mines been fine too, panniers and enduro seat all sorted when I picked it up.

I do feel for the people with issues tho as its a PITA to have to chase and travel back and fro to the dealers.....

Same here.:JB Other than replacement rear brake pads, mine's been spot on for the first 4000 miles.:beerjug: On occasion, it's taken a couple of attempts to get into neutral, but I'm told "they all do that":blast:D

Not good enough, Dump it in for an S10 :thumb

I've got the same problem as the OP. Oil coming from weephole. Dealer has referred to BMW GB technical, who have instructed that the water pump be replaced. Bike booked in for this next week.

Cheers

The oil leak came from the small hole just in front of the cylinder head ( left side ), due to assembly fault at the factory.
There is a metal plate just by the side of the hole, dealer called it a "blanking" plate. That was not fitted correctly.

There was nothing wrong with the pump. If the bike leaked from day one you may have the same problem.

I am glad that I rejected the bike,I have now a new one :D
