Spot on...
And what's a young pup like you doing on a GS, everyone knows its an old mans bike....![]()
It might be an old mans bike, but its the only bike to travel on and it looks good.

Welcome to the joys of the 1200 section Matt![]()

Has anybody else had a problem with the sharp screw in the panniers?
It has damaged my brand new arai tour x4 with a deep gouge
BMW have told me they are all the same. They basically said this is how it is nothing we can do really. My reply was that's like having a nail sticking through your seat and saying dont sit on that could be dangerous but that's how it is.
Please comment if you have had trouble as I'm going to pursue this further and other cases would be nice.
Thanks
Matt
Here's the screw

Someone else who thinks its ok to buy something brand new but it damages your helmet.
If you bought a BMW car and sat in it as the salesman hands it over to you and whilst doing so a pointy bolt rips your coat would you say to the salesman "it's ok ill go to halfords and file it down. IM SURE YOU WOULD![]()

i do find it a bit odd that bmw have put a sharp spike protruding into the luggage carrying area. especially when it appears to be utterly, er, pointless![]()
. I put a box of eggs in my top box and by the time i got to my journeys end they had broken. Should i be surprised ?.

A few months ago I took the GSA trail riding and had my top box on the back. it was completely empty apart from a 1/2 kg disc lock and an old pair of waterproof trousers.
I don't know what I was thinking at the time, but was convinced that my smart phone would be safer in there than in my pocket.![]()

You know how when you've finished with a cement mixer at the end of the day you put a couple of buckets of water and a few bricks in it to clean it ...
Oh dear .... A hundred pieces would not be an exaggeration![]()

That wasn't very smart
No, but best thing for a smart phone !
Can`t work out why they are called SMART phones, when you have to have a degree to make a phone call on one.
Long live the Nokia C2![]()
I don't know how anyone can say this bolt is not fit for purpose. On one hand its part of a high tech solution that enable one's 1200 Adventure to travel to far off exotic destinations and not have to worry about pannier lids that won't open due to the vacume created inside whilst travelling 5,000 miles above sea level. WTF... I cant believe BMW have put my life at risk..
My older style panniers do not have that vent and I've been planning over the last 4 years a London to Manchester trip that will take me over the Cat & Fiddle pass - Ive now a real concern that I will not be able to open my pannier get to my sandwiches
Question:
Should I plan a diffent route, maybe the M6 (Im not sure about the toll road though as Ive heard the barrier does not stay open for long enough)?
Could anyone recomend me camping loaction near the buxton end of the pass so that I can set of early in the morning and try and make it withiut having to stop? - And can I book a camping spot in adavance near the entrance (I cant risk a que) - I'll need it in June 2014 if that helps
