Something for the weekend sir?

If you have an opinion that is backed by fact I am certain we would all like to see it, instead of your perpetual grumbling, moaning and bad mouthing .

How about you demonstrate your professional engineering expertise and do some calculations that show that the small GS sump without a cooler is adequate to cool the oil on a hard ridden bike at off road poace.
Then you can send them to every professional tuner who has ever tuned a GS and tell them that they have got it wrong.
I have no calculations, just the evidence of an oil temperature and pressure gauge, and all I am reporting is what actually happens on my bikes when they are ridden in the conditions they were designed for - there is no opinion whatsoever, just figures on dials.
You have no calculation, or empirical evidence, and seem more concerned with anecdote and hearsay, and this doesnt reflect particularly well on your claim to be competent professional engineer.
As does a potty mouth, and there are a few others who could reflect on that ----.
So just buckle down and rip me to shreds with facts, figures and documentary evidence , like a good little professional engineer.
Good luck!

Maybe you should spend a bit of time and bother to get your facts straight - you seem to think I am against oil cooling by cooler on airheads? Wrong. For very well understood reasons (and already extensively documented by others), I have one fitted to my G/S.

And as far as anecdote and hearsay is concerned - wrong again, asides my professional training, it personal hands on experience actually, rather like yourself, but the difference here is I am prepared to accept that others may have an alternative opinion and not act like a pompous prick of the highest order claiming that those whose opinions that do not match your own are no more than "braying jackasses" (who has a potty mouth now?)

I have no intention of wasting any more of my time on you in a flame war, so - have a good day and maybe consider :- :stopbeing

Went back to the first page of this thread and got all inspired by mikeyboy's good work. Been quietly amassing parts for several airheads for a while now and have a coupla weeks off in Feb. Ride or rejuvenate that is the question :confused: There is an airhead weekend gathering 1500kms away in the middle of my holidays. So many bikes, so little time.

No doggy pics even though I am the custodian of the world's ugliest dog :blast

If the esteemed gentlemen engineers (or not) would like to take their squabbling elsewhere instead of messing up a good thread I for one would appreciate it.

Mikeyboy, I am failing miserably on the gearbox identification quiz except I think the two at the back are para boxes, perhaps a 100GS and an 1100GS.

Regarding the top yolk there is an American company that does a billet top triple tree which I saw on Advrider, sorry can't find a link.

Looking forward to more pictures of what looks like a great build.

Which one was it?
Three different ages of gearbox, spot the differences, identify the approx years
Bonus points if you can also identify the two boxes at the back:D:D:blast
You may or may not win a prize:comfort

The 2 boxes at the back are definitely power points.
You know where I am if you need any more help. :thumb2

I quite agree, hence why I will no longer engage with Beemerboff.:thumb2

Looking forward to this as it progresses.

I also agree - this started off as an interesting post by MikeyBoy, who is a top man as far as I'm concerned! Never asked to see his engineering certificates, but the drive shaft re-build he did for me was proof enough.:thumby: Plus he has 2 great dogs - who could ask for better references.

I have been shocked by the mindless squabbling, which is very uncharacteristic of the "Airhead Section". So, I try to not get involved in the bickering, but look forward to more pics and posts from MikeyBoy. Not one for cafe racers or scramblers myself, but love seeing the results of peoples' labours.
Keep it up Mikey !!

Also, he's doing a fair bit of work for my pal's G/S, one of whose gearboxes is in that photo, , which I recognise, so please don't distract the man whilst he's working on them.:bounce1

Great pictures Mike especially of Roo & George.....

See what you started with all these airhead people squabbling and fucking up a good thread on your build progress. Take it elsewhere if you read it please ;-)

This, from the chap that accuses others (including engineers) that have valid engineering opinons as being "braying Jackasses".

As ever, Beemerboffs way is the only way:blagblah

You mustn't mock Rolf Harris too much, isn't he in enough trouble as it is, I bet it's lovely in that prison!
