Fob batteries are known for this. If you get a good one it’ll last ages. Duracell, I think, have a date on the packetsWhen the yellow box comes on, how do I get it off ?
Mine keeps saying my key needs a new battery, which I've changed twice.
I've been to the dealer today, in and out in less than 20 mins. They've done what the service receptionist described as "a full software reset" and so far the fault hasn't reappeared.Mine's been playing up for about 3 weeks now, strangely since just a few days after it had a software update at its two year service. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes has made no difference, so I popped in to the dealer yesterday. Apparently, there's a lot of it about!
The plan is to go in for a diagnostics check a week on Monday and that'll determine whether it's hardware or software and thereafter, if it's software, then they know BMW is aware of the issue, but the dealer has no indication of when revised software will become available. It sounds to me as if something's got out into the field without quite enough testing.
I've been away (in the car), so it's only been ridden about 3 or 4 times since I was at the dealer and it's been fine so far.@Ian M, has yours been ok since the reset?

Mine was in overnight for a full software job, but I think it's a queue system so not necessarily all download time. You could be lucky and just get it done straightaway perhaps. That's interesting, Dick Lovetts want my bike for the whole freking day to do mine, and charge me for a loan bike to boot.
Should be interesting day tomorrow. Just hope its a quick visit.
Knocking the wheel won't clear it. They are waiting for an update and will roll it out in due course.Mine was in overnight for a full software job, but I think it's a queue system so not necessarily all download time. You could be lucky and just get it done straightaway perhaps.
Dare I say no SOS issues for me and knock the roller wheel to the right I think to clear the message.
For me any warning I can clear like this, but then I haven't had the SOS issue so maybe that's not clearable.Knocking the wheel won't clear it.
If you could, I'd have done it. Only the dealer can clear it once they release the software patch. For me any warning I can clear like this, but then I haven't had the SOS issue so maybe that's not clearable.
Surely you can remove it from the TFT while you're riding & until the ignition is activated again?
The software patch is released now. I’m just waiting for my dealer to give me a date for mine to go.If you could, I'd have done it. Only the dealer can clear it once they release the software patch.
Me too. It ain't gonna be anytime soon or before I go away on 26 Sep to 13 Oct.The software patch is released now. I’m just waiting for my dealer to give me a date for mine to go.
Mine went the same and needed to go in, went for a service, they said it was a known fault and an update was being rolled out. Not had it since last service, but its booked in for next service. Apparently it's due to the detection window that isn't broad enough. My system did work when I needed it as it should do.
