I am a new member in British Columbia. I just picked up a 91 GS 100 in fairly good shape. Maintenance was brought up to date, & after a first short ride, I found the speedometer works fairly well when compared to my GPS, but the odometer & trip meter don't. The cable & gearing is obviously not the issue. Any thoughts on something I might look at, or is this something to send out for repairs?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes it is possible to not push the reset button in all the way and it may not work at all?, if you get all ooooo`s when reset / It should be ok?
If you see 000.9 etc?,,, it may stick..

I depress the button and slide my finger off it sideways letting it flick back up
If stationary it dont work - if the wheels are rolling it does
I am sad that I know this :rob :D

There is a guy on French Ebay that still has GS style speedos for not much more than having your one old one serviced.

I bought one and they seem to be the genuine article, not a Chinese knock off, but I suppose the originals would be made in China if they still made them anyway.

The plastic fitting of the angle drive to the tripometer will have broken probably.
wierdly enough if the speedo gets damp inside because the trip button rubber has perished the drive pid in the trip drive rusts and jams in the housing. If it jams bad enough the housing actually breaks.Have been seriously thinking of getting a price to have some of these 3D printed as as lot of speedo's could be salvaged with them.

drive pid

Do you mean pin?

Whats this 3D printing then?
Can you elaborate please.

Thanks.

Yes i meant pin.

Easier if you look up 3d printing on the web and watch a video.
Not easy to explain.
