speedo question

[r100/7]

on my 1993 r100gs
the speedo has going funny as the trip has stopped working it cant be reset or any thing and the neadle only wobbles when riding does that mean my speedo is dead or can they be opened up and sorted?
i have check the cable and the inner bit spines when its moving.

as the new ones cost so much i am going to just go with out if it cant be sorted

just had a look on motor works website and the cost of a new one is taking the p*ss at £300 the 2rd hand is a bit better but still a lot a £120

if it cant be sorted i will jsut go another year with out one

If I remember correctly, someone on here had a similar problem and there were instructions on how to dismantle and clean it, dont know how to look it up though

i tryed to open it up but after taking of the too small screw on the bottom and unscrewing the trip button i could get it to open up. i guess like the old r100 clocks the the black rum on the top needs to come off some how.

if some one now how to open it up it be a great help as i wont beable to make it any worse than it all ready is.
