Starcom Remote Volume Control

Does anyone know what is inside the Vol-02 remote volume control for the Advance and the Digital?

I've got a small LCD monitor and control switches for my on bike DVR mounted to my bars and would like to integrate a volume control for the Starcom.

I'm assuming it is just a variable potentiometer but don't know for sure because I haven't got one to examine.
