Surging = fuelling issue?

So, you may have other issues, other than the fuel map. could be a dirty air breather ... and gobs of other things are possible.
It is hard to tell from here, I don't know how steep that hill is. But I wouldn't go back to the leaner map if I were you. The clutch is prolly not the problem. You may have simply found the limits of the 1150 in power .... The 1250/1300 would accelerate into triple digits miles in a couple of seconds in that same scenario, very likely. Any time you go for an older bike your going to have a project on your hands. You watch them closely and try to correct things before they become a breakdown out on the road. If you say, want to learn mechanics, then your right where you need to be. But if you want a turnkey bike and are going to have other people fixing the bike, then a lot newer bike might be in order, just saying, not being critical ....
Aslo a little more on air breathers, especially the high flow gauze and oil types like KN need to be cleaned at least once a year, especially if your riding around diesel vehicles a lot. I have found that the K'n will look perfectly clean on visual inspection, but is in fact completely full of minute diesel particles. I have these in my trucks and have committed this error several times self, even to the point of getting codes from the PLC.
Do clean those breathers a least once a year or more. And of course, follow the cleaning directions to the tee with the K'n, no exceptions .....
