tell me about your 1190

Fuel consumption!
Yes, I had to top the demo bike had for a day 3 times.

did you not fancy the adventure version

it is an Adventure. it says so in massive letters on the side :)

i guess you mean the penny farthing Adventure R. i dismissed that on the grounds that i was never going off road and the skinny front wheel looks like something off a bicycle. there was also no R demo bike available at my local dealer.

in retrospect, i maybe should have given it more thought as it does have some advantages for solely road use, but i think overall i made the right decision.

The bike is just so good, so good and the more you ride it the better it gets, three week trip starting with Italy in about ten days and after last weekends trip to Orange via Mt. Ventoux Life is good at the moment. :D

cookie just enjoy !

oh I see it now , eyes must be going, yes I meant the R version

you've explained it so don't bother replying

HTR.....:thumb2

what i like:

the fabulous smooth power. nicer than the demo bike.

the transmission.

the light weight.

the effortless handling.

the noise, even with the standard can. wings will be on soon :)

the touring screen is better than the stock item, and looks great in dark tint.

the orangeness.

Yep, pretty much dead on, though I wasn't fussed on the touring screen. The Wings is soooooo nice. :D

what i don't like:

the sidestand.

I have to take mine in tomorrow to have it replaced under a recall. Personally, I don't have a problem with what is fitted at the moment, so it'll be interesting to see what way it is 'improved'.

the indicator switch. very nearly as bad as the BMW LC for position.

I've got used to how it doesn't move very far, position is just a tad too far away, but then I do have stumpy digits.

the way the modes default to "street" if i turn the bike off.

Nope, mine doesn't do that and stays in whatever mode I've chosen.

45 mpg while running in

45 is the worst I've returned and usually get 50/52 on average.

my arse hurts.

Comfort seat from new. Better than the stocker, not as good as a Sargent.

it's fair to say that i was very cagey about trading in my GSA TC for this bike, and was sad to see it wheeled away. 5 miles on the KTM and i'd forgotten all about it though

Best, most exciting bike I've ever owned. My GS was a terrific bike in many ways, but seems so ordinary since going orange. :aidan

I'm getting 51.3 average running it in...sound good to me then;)

It's a big powerful v twin, MPG is never going to be the best, especially if ridden spiritedly. I tend to focus on the TPW gauge instead (tanks per week). :boozer

now with wings

IMG_2612-XL.jpg

i've since re-routed the tank bag straps. TBH the bag is a bit pony compared to a model specific BMW item.

good toolkit - appears to contain a bottle opener and a garrotte

I think you will find that the garrotte is a helmet lock that fastens under the seat check your handbook :D Bike looks really cool looking forward to seeing it and hearing it :eyebrow

What baffle are you running with in the Wings? Fitted my wings shorty on Tuesday then buggered up my back, so I have not had the chance to try it out yet.:blast
Currently got the large baffle in, but I'm off to France on Sunday ( if my back is OK) and wondering if I ought to use the small one to reduce the likelihood of French plod taking an interest.

Tried all of them in the garage last night. I didn't think there was that much difference between the large and small so I left the large one in as I preferred the tone. No baffle at all made it roar considerably louder.

The Wings exhaust looks much better.:thumb How much was that?

£493 posted.

sounds an outrageous amount for a bit of tubing to me, but i console myself by thinking of the akra being another £250 on top :)

I really shouldn't be here .....
