tell me about your 1190

has anyone who has an R ever felt the need to buy a set of road sized wheels?

When you say road wheels, 17" !

You've got some good mates there then cos I used to pay considerably more for a 6000 mile service on my GS :-O

Andres

It's because the valve clearances on the LC are only done every 12k not every 6k as on previous models therefore saving a chunk of labour and some very expensive gaskets

Ordered a new shift lever today ..

http://www.hdmoto.com/KTM_TYPE_9_SHIFT_LEVER_KIT_p/01-0567.htm

I find the position of mine is just (and we're talking a few mm at the most!) either too high, or too low on it's spline. I've gone +10mm (size 11 feet) and hopefully I can get the shift tip, spot on in the right position.

(It's so minor that I've lived with it with no real complaints, it's just one of those little niggles that you want to sort out and at last hammerhead have added the 1190 to their collection of shift levers .... )

i've been lucky and find one spline down is exactly right for my size 11s :)

the stock position is miles too high and i had to lift my foot or risk dislocating my ankle to change up.

That looks well cool. My problem is not the lever height but the width of the stub - I wish mine was wider as sometimes I miss it completely :blast

Does the term "flat foot" ring any bells :D

i'm struggling to see how that lever will fix the "in between spline" problem. it's longer, so the end will be even higher or even lower than stock depending on the which spline it's on, won't it?

edit: i suppose the tip to spline alignment may well be different.

You can get a shorter one as well but yes it isn't a guaranteed fix. Nice bit of bling tho.

If you think about where the protecting layer of plastic is on your left bike boot for changing gear ... the tip of the lever sits well towards my shin within that 2 inch square. By making the lever longer, it'll sit further towards my toes, so it should be a lot easier to just flex or lift my toes to hook them under or over. :thumb2

I've got a gear lever stub extender fitted on mine which I originally had on a 1200GS, it fits OK on the 1190 though and seems to help. I think it is a Wunderlich item, and you may find it useful.

After nearly 10 years on GS's I'm moving to the orange side. I've just dealt up on a used 1190 adv r. I had a run out on one before Christmas but couldn't get the deal I wanted... Bored the other night on eBay and I see Riders in Bristol have a 4,000 mile "63" plate with the KTM luggage, bash plate, fogs and a few other goodies. So the deal's done and I'm collecting Monday :clap

I wondered if anyone on here knows the bike? The guy who had it traded it in for a Multistrada with them.
