tell me about your 1190

Had tank off today and so fitted the seat air deflector kit - once tank off it's a 2 minute job :)

Having the tank off means that you can properly secure the front of the deflector with a cable tie.

Looks like they were made for the bike :D

it looks as though these are now standard fitment as I was in gear4s place today and all of there 2016 adv models have these fitted.

Love the sound track.:beerjug:

indeed.

since switching from BMW to KTM i haven't used my in ear monitors or played any music at all. probably just a coincidence.

anyway...i thought i'd tell you how much i like the PP rack extender i bought to carry a roll bag + oddments on our recent portuguese trip. so much better than the silly little OEM jobbie, or even the ali top box mounting rack that i've used up to now :)

Bit of an issue with mine in the Pyrennes - got really hot (37 degrees) and after a long slow'ish pass stopped for petrol and as you do opened the petrol cap which resulted in a fountain of hot petrol/vapours erupting out of the tank and going all over the front of the bike. Was lucky not to get a face full

This caused the SA screen to go milky with lots of small cracks

Was very careful opening the fuel cap thereafter. Thankfully the screen held together for the rest of the trip:)

Got back home and traced the problem down to the vent pipe being crushed between the frame and a cable tie from the factory - had to take off the body work and tank to get at it :blast

Tank now venting properly.

Upside is I now have had a chance to try out the standard screen again which I have cut down to remove the flip and it actually works very nicely :D

.................

Just out of interest Paul, have you ever (before or after sorting the breather) noticed petrol fumes when riding, coming from the filler cap?

I had this once - but then noticed I had not closed the filler cap properly, did not notice for quite a while as there was a tank bag on top, surprisingly little had sloshed out.

No, it's not that.........I've had an ongoing random issue with it. No rhyme nor reason to when it happens and as the bike's got older so it happens less frequently

Never before I sorted the breather pipe - not noticed it since but earlier days!

Well - after waiting over 3 months the SA rear manifold has finally turned up - pity I did not have it before I went to Spain a couple of weeks back :blast

In no rush to fit it now we are heading into autumn but will get round to it when I have a spare afternoon.

Should hopefully reduce a bit more heat and help keep the rear shock happy.

Cost is still £75 so worth playing around with :)

.....................and fitted :D

Not a major job - about 90 minutes. Will see how it improves things next summer.

Going to get the dealer to fit this and all of the deflector kit on the next service which will be due May next year - until then the heat is not likely to be much of an issue.

I am actually noticing it more now things have cooled down, in the summer it was only really noticeable when I was in traffic (at which point it would burn my legs) now the general air temp is lower I can notice the heat when cruising along - but it is staring to become a benefit.
