Having sold my blue new Tenere to an esteemed member of this establishment last week, I had 4K burning a hole in my pocket and I managed to syphon some of it off before the wife squirrelled the rest away to go into the house extension fund. After all, a chap can't be without a bike at all can he.
And a completely impulse purchase (although I've always, always wanted one) resulted in this arriving over the weekend
It rides absolutely beautifully and is so light and handles beautifully. It starts to lose interest above 65mph but then so do I what with speed cameras, twats in cars and admiring the scenery. It oozes character and I just adore the style. I've spent the morning looking up 1983 Paris Dakar videos on Youtube and I just love the whole "old skool"
It isn't quite as good condition as the photo suggests and it is not concours condition but it is not too bad. It is pretty much 100% standard as far as I can gather from a bit of internet research which always seems to be a good idea
If anyone has any experience or knowledge I'd be really grateful. The Germans seem mad for them and there is tons on the internet about them (in german) but not so much in English. David Lambeth seems to be the man and I might get him to delve around the engine over the winter. I would like to put Ohlins springs on front and rear but other than that it seems good to go.
Anybody fancy an old skool trip to North Africa ?
