Not a deal to pick in the real world

In the real world, the GS kept kicking the KTM's arse!:D

The KTM was only quicker once you get into licence losing territory.

Go for it,Dr Evil !!!!

Ha ha, this thread is funny but one thing's for sure, I for one am very glad that certian people on here don't 'get' KTM's, or any other bike with a bit of soul for that matter.

Stick with your WMB's, really, they are very good bikes. Very practicel. Very sensible. Very comfortable. I was gonna say very relaible but, well, that wouldn't be correct would it.

Oh and Nutty, no bike/car is spot on perfect from the off these days and the 1190's have had some issues but please enlighten me, what are these major issues that you speak of? Misaligned subframes? Shite gearboxes? Serious corrosion? Switchgear failing? Heated grips that don't heat?

Pray tell :)

OK, I'll bite. On the current GS, there were a small handful of misaligned subframes, of which one was mine. Was it dangerous? No. Shite gearboxes is now apparently down to rider error/ technique, as all GS's have had quirky gearboxes (I don't actually believe this, as the gearboxes on all 3 of mine have been perfect). Serious corrosion?:nenau I'll give you the switchgear failing though. Heated grips do heat, but not hot enough for some. Not ideal, but it will be fixed.

I'm talking about the well known flawed airbox/ filter design, that led to the 1190R that needed a full engine rebuild. Now that is a serious issue.

There are a few more here - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=906504

I find it predictable that what starts out as a thread where people are saying they are happy with the bike, turns into a load of drivel by people that don't even own one, thinking they know more than they actually do. We managed 8 posts before the usual bollocks started.

Keep telling yourself the GS is crap.:thumb;)

It's good to read that BMW are sorting out all the manufacturing flaws. Have they put a catch tray under the cam chains yet to stop them locking the gearbox when they fail?

All they need to do then is a cosmetic re-design so it doesn't look like a bike assembled from spare Transformer parts. Somebody stated that the WC GSA looked like a parody of itself, exactly right. The 1150's looked great, classy lines and a complete "designed as a unit" appearance. The WC's look like they were designed by a committee with each member working in isolation.

It's crap .... :)

:beerjug: :D

Nutty - agreed, the one blown engine was a serious issue and I'm glad it wasn't mine. However, to use an oft quoted phrase from WC owners "yeah, but, look at how many have sold compared to how many have problems".....................How many wrecked engines have you heard of other than the one on AdvRider?

I've had my air box apart and it was as clean as a clean thing, I know you visit the Orange room on here and you'll have seen the same result for others here. For 2015 KTM have modded the air box so hopefully, for those riding frequently in dry, dusty, off road conditions the problem may have been sorted.

What were the other major issues you mentioned?

Actually, scrub that, you're right about pointless arguments on here and TBH I was only pissing about, I genuinley couldn't care less as I'm dead happy with the bike, it suits me sir and that's all that matters :beerjug:

The 1150 GSA was a bloody mess and it still looks a mess

What was it called - Oh Yeh THE PIG

Is any bike really perfect ?

I test rode the KTM and its a great bike in fact its fantastic, I also test rode the multi strada and that too was a great bike to ride but for me the GSA LC was the best fit in terms of doing what i wanted, plenty quick enoughin the real world, comfy (doesnt roast your arse like the KTM does) delivers its power where you most need it unlike the MS and the KTM (they both work better than the GSA at over a hundred without doubt. No chain !

Yes the gear change could be better but it isnt terrible, not on mine at any rate with the quick shifter. The heated grips are not as good as they were on the TC but they work well enough for me. All bikes have their idiosyncracies (spelling) including the KTM et al.
Oh and mine has not corroded yet but i live in hope

Why do we have to 'get' bikes, dont we all just ride the bikes we prefer. For me thats currently a GS LC (and an older 1150 for nostalgia), but may be a suzuki, KTM or Ducati or indeed something else next year.

I dont feel the need to rip the KTM or other bikes to bits. And yes i do like banter, just not wankers.
