Hello

What should be the correct level of the oil in the forks? I remember reading somewhere that some chap use a pipe with a certain length to adjust the oil level.

Hello

The problem is that you have to remove all old oil to put the correct quantity of new oil.

I read somewhere that I could use a pipe with a correct length to correct the oil level….

Drain g/s forks via small drain allen bolt underneath the bottom leg...if paralever ( or the mono if it please you ) ..simply remove the fork from the bike and drain upside down ( just ensure you loosen the top fork cap/nut before taking the fork from the bike ).:thumb2

according to the haynes oil quantities for the paralever GS are
right leg 440 +- 10 cc (on oil change) 470+-10 cc (on rebuild)
left leg 410+- 10 cc (on oil change) 470 +- 10cc (on rebuild)
it doesnt state the oil levels for the paralever GS :blast

Apologies Bumpmuncher misread your post.Distinction between quantity and level.Numpty me.
You are of course correct,.Cant think of anyway to accurately measure oil level in a fork leg?

ah tfft thought i had been making silly school boy mistakes again :D as for measuring the level i think there is not enough space to get a accurate measurement :(

AAMOI racers usually measure fork oil by level as it's more accurate. apparently.

Given how inexpensive fork oil is and how simple it is to change it -why not dump the lot and fill up with new oil of the right grade. Should be done annually as best practice. :thumb2

If you need to top up your forks occaisionally they must be leaking so should be overhauled with new seals and oil.
