Hey all, I call on the collective power of the oilheaders out there again haha, I tell you I'm getting my memberships worth in advice an help from this forum over past month. So bikes working fine no issues but as I was messing I noticed my throttle cable was loose at the throttle end, there's a plastic piece which looks like it has come out, nothing is snapped I took it apart to see if it clips back in but could not see how it does, anyway thought new cable will sort it, but they at £50 an I thought I best not buy that straight away as it might be the same an I just need to adjust something. Anyway picture attached says it all any advice or comparison picture welcome. 1995 r1100gs

The fact it is running fine prbably discounts this but if you've had the tank lifted the cable can become dislodged, normally on the right-hand throttle body but check the routing round the throttle bodies in general, if all else fails give it a good twist a couple of times as the cable may have become dislodged in the linkage box, which sits under the battery tray.

They are both sitting fine in the throttle body end of the bike, I don't think mine has that box where cables link in a box, that was after 96 mines just a cable that goes down direct to throttle body and then links over to the other.it just looks like it's ment to be part of the angled plastic piece it sits next to.

And check both TBs are properly shut on the stops... That's a lot of slack and the must be a snag up some where...

Yeah I thought it was a hell of a lot of slack, throttle body stops? Not sure what I'm looking for but I'll check the throttle body end tonight again might need to get the tank off and have a proper look.

The female socket looks like it has cracked, this may explain why the cable has dropped.
How much adjustment is left in the adjuster at the throttle body end of this cable?
Also, that brake line looks like it would be pushing the cable down if it was in the right place, maybe it’s just the angle of the shot.

That’s the set up on a 1995 R1100 GS
No junction box…looks like one cable does both sides

It's just the angle paul it floats over the top of it out of shot. I too thought that plastic part should be part of the angled.plastic coming out of the throttle housing, so.is it.ment to.be attached? I thought it was broken but there is no.plastic cracked or sheared it's all smooth. I'll post a picture of throttle body end later 👍

Correct — the lefthand throttle body has two cable adjusters, one affects the righthand throttle body, which also has its own adjuster :D very difficult balancing the throttle bodies on the early 1100’s with one single throttle cable attaches to both throttle bodies if you’ve never encountered them before.
