Time for a new helmet

I bought a Nolan N-Com with the bluetooth gizmo thingy.

Noisy, heavy, and the volume control impossible to use with gloves on.

Just use my Schuberth S1 all the time, which is great, but not flip.

The NEC will be good as you can see which fits the best.

Just bought this while in Wunderbar Deutschland last week, for 348 Euros. That's 100 Euros less than a normal silver C2 :thumb

I hope it matches the new F800GS :D

Arai SZ, light weight very quiet, very good vision, excellent in hot weather, okay in cold with a balaclava, simple to use, plain colours (which suits me). Seems to be a bit of a secret, people who wear them always seem to say,
" best helmet ever had" probably not "blingy" enough for most people.:thumb

SHOEI MULTITEC.........loads of extras in box!.......smoked visor....whisper strips etc......£260....... every bit as good as my other two non flip Shoei's! Really quiet helmet with all the bits in the box fitted!

Bigtwin, I've had a Justissimo flip for a couple of years, here's my evaluation:

+ points:
- Comfortable and well finished (I had an Arai Quantum before)
- Flip works well and I can ride up to 50mph with it up comfortably
- Flip down sunshade is great, how did I manage without it?
- Anti-fog visor works well and doesn't leak
- It was £145 and looks great in the matt black!
- Seems well built

- points:
- It's noisy! (you really do need the earplugs

Overall I recommend it but I do yearn for a Tour-X style helmet as well.....

Thanks. I have a Tour-X. Nice field of view and peak is nice in the sun. But - noisy (even when in plain full face mode minus peak), and very cold due to big gap under chin bit.

I went to the NEC today and bought a white multitec for £225 including all the above.
I saw them for £260.
I also saw Caberg trip for £50.
I wore the Multitec on the way home and found it better than my old syncrotec. It did mist up, but I didnt have the pinlock visor inplace.

Mike.

I got a multitec to replace my system 4. I don't like it at all and may buy a syst 5. It's too noisy and leaky (air under chin).

:thumb2 +1
Wear my Arai SZ/F around town, especially in the summer as the visability and generally light and airy feeling are great. Longer faster trips and it's back to the C2, but around town the SZ/F is king.

Open-faced helmets are probably not seen as PC enough on the Health & Safety front, but I found it a real revelation to go back to one after 25 years of full-face helmets.

The lid instructions tell you how to adjust the visor fit against the seal - well worth doing, and takes seconds. I've had a Multitec since they first came out - replacing a System IV. Well pleased. I had bought a System V, but took it back after a 2 minute ride. Noisiest helmet I've ever tried - caused by a poorly made plastic catch thingy.

Caberg Justissimo GT review

Yes I have one, the Justissimo GT that replaced my Syncrotec II as the new Multitec was too short in the chin for me.

I'm happy with: the sun visor!, wind noise good, paint job, visor indents allows a small enough gap for airflow comfort, price, ratchet type buckle, washable interior, wind stopper and easy to operate flip front, the style. Not fully tested in full-on rain, but so far no leaks in lightish rain.

Less happy with: position of strap not natural and lies too far back, have to reposition my ears for comfort as Caberg's are meant for tiny ears (not a problem as sides are easily flexibile enough to get your hand inside, rubberised buttons for air inlet and flip mechnaism get black easy (but clean easily), wind stopper interferes with view when flipped up (but is removable), inside of visor harder to clean than Syncrotec as visor fully closes when flipped up.

Overall I like the helmet, despite the small niggles it gives a comfortable ride, but had to send one back as a pressed metal panel/detail on the chin bar was not seated properly and let down the finish of an otherwise good helmet. Look out for this when buying on line...

After living with the helmet for a few months now I thought I'd update my experience. I still like it, it looks good and has aged well, BUT
I cannot trust it in a heavy or sustained, downpour, or in the snow. What happens is the demisting capacity of the chinbar vents quickly becomes overwhelmed (I wear specs) requiring me to snap open the visor, then I'm stuffed as the rain comes in over the back of the visor and doesn't clear, then I may as well lift the screen.

So my experience is it's good for fair weather riding especially the built in sunvisor, but for foul weather look elsewhere.

I think I'll look again at the Multitech for an all weather solution.
