Tracer 9 GT Plus

They know what sticks the plastic they use.

Perhaps they do. But my fender extender had come off out in the wild some weeks after I fitted it with their supplied sticky pads in all sorts of shapes.
Bike was new when I fitted the extenda. I did clean the area with the alcohol wipes prior to sticking it on. They have supplied two plastic rivets with it too, but I did not fancy drilling 6mm holes in the mudguard on a brand new bike.

Did I bother replacing it you may ask. No I did not, as to be honest I haven’t a clue when did the thing come off in the first place. All I know, that one day I realised it wasn’t there. It could have been a day or 3 months after I lost it. No idea.

You have to be careful, not all silicones are the same, most don't stick to plastics. If it was that easy Pyramid would enclose a tube of silicone. They know what sticks the plastic they use.
Only ever used RTV silicone to attach the fender extension for the last several bikes.
Just key back the plastic with sand paper clean with solvent .
I have even attached small light fitting at work with RTV 8-10 yrs ago .
Never had an issue.
RTV can be used for gasket jointing up to 200degC .
Not the same stuff as bathroom silicone I must add.
I will carry on doing what works
Operatives can choose their securing methods. Not a screw in sightimage.jpg

You need the bar that’s separate

Thanks Arsey put the order in today £13700 + £1500 of extras part ex the 2021 GS thanks for the info.
Having it delivered in January for 2024 reg year.

Well, the rain stopped and the sun came out today and Mrs. Longdog said I could put off getting the Christmas decorations and go for a ride!

I did about 100 miles in all, the bike is really nice even though I am sticking to the Yamaha advised 5k rpm until the 600 mile service comes up. The Rev “limit” equates to around 75mph, so it’s not too much of a hardship. I had the heated comfort seat as part of the free Yamaha accessories and it is quite firm. The riding position is obviously more compact than my S10 was but no limbs seized up which is a good thing! The suspension is fairly firm even in Street setting but the handling is lovely! I am 6’2” with a 33” inside leg and with the seat on the highest setting, the screen is brilliant! Yes, the wind hits my helmet but there is relatively little wind noise and no buffeting at all! Result! I was thinking about the MRA screen, but I’m going to hang fire on that now.

So, all in all, a very positive first ride indeed! I am looking forward to the next one now!

Yes, that’s on my “to-do” list. I didn’t notice the seat sloping forward on my test ride or when I rode it home last Friday but I did start to notice it today.

One other thing is the assisted cruise control. I was very sceptical about it and couldn’t really see myself using it but do you know what? It is actually brilliant! The way it seamlessly slows you down to maintain a gap and then smoothly increases speed back to the set speed when appropriate is just amazing! I’m a convert!

My exhaust was dropped of today at Silverstone Cerakote, should be ready in time to be a Xmas pressie to myself.
There was a lot of welding 'spatter'? I had to remove before I took it in.
I understand that they sand blast then degrease it before applying the coating and then it is baked on.
I opted to keep the oval outlets self colour.
As an interesting point there is only one lambda sensor and that is before the cat I think. That means a remap should work, whether it is worth doing is another point. I haven't been able to ride the bike enough yet to tell.

Took it out for a quick spin and almost straight away got soaked.

Oh well

Just reading through this and this bike looks a real belter. I really love that engine and did a few 1000 miles on a US FJ09 a couple of years ago and it's smooth and powerful.

Could be a real option for the future when the S10 gets a bit heavy!!

First time two up and amazed I could not feel wife on back . Much better than KTM 1290R etc . Wife said it was very roomy and comfortable.
I’ve sorted my comfort as fitted a Comfort Air cushion .

Got the idea when wife used one on back of Transalp in Gran Canaria.

The Tracer is just fine now I’ve modded seat but this cushion transforms it and is so much better for me with a nerve issue and groin pain .Couldn’t care less if the vanity before sanity mob think it looks shite

Not ridden the bike at speed yet as only on island but so far it’s nigh on perfect .

Lights are bloody good too . Didn’t realise it had cornering lights and the backlit switchgear is great - 1300GS take note at another £7.5k and not as well equipped!!!

Eeeww, you’ve ruined the Starbucks parking lot appeal there.

Managed to get out on my GT+ this afternoon, I need to get a few miles and the first service under my belt! Anyway, I know there has been some bad press with the stock screen on the previous model but the stock screen on the GT+ is actually pretty damn good for me at least. I’m 6’2” and with the screen fully lowered, I get clean air hitting my chest and with the screen fully raided, well the air pretty much hits the top of my helmet, no buffeting whichever height it is, so no need for a MRA screen! This is quite probably the first bike I have had that I won’t have to change the screen! Well done Yamaha.
