Nearly got enough miles on her for first service

Fitted the jk3d seat mod and I’m well impressed the difference is night and day for comfort good tip 👍
I’ve got my jk3d kit too but I haven’t got around to fitting it just yet. Trying to get a few more miles on it between wet/salty days before the first service.

Funny that he says the airflow hits his helmet in the low position and rattles his helmet in the high setting. I’m 6’2” and airflow hits me in my chest on the low setting and just on the top of my helmet on the high setting. I found it quiet on low with just a little wind noise on the high setting, still, we’re all different!

Sat on one today felt really good bars and pegs wise, nice and roomy, bars not too wide for my dodgy shoulder, seat was a bit suspect didnt seem padded enough at the front. Got a demo booked in for when the demo bike arrives.IMG_5942.jpeg

....seat was a bit suspect didnt seem padded enough at the front.
The rider's seat appears to be uncomfortably tipped forward while the passenger one is nice and flat.

Yes i know what you mean, thinking about it. now you’ve mentioned that could have been pushing my weight forward, i was impressed, but will try a few other bikes before deciding, comfort will be a big factor, i am a bit cautious about depreciation too buying something mass market new.

Indeed it is , which is why I always found a Tracer uncomfortable, especially with my nerve damage .

Easily improved though with a $25 mod from JK3D

Thought I’d have a go and connect up to Garmin Motorize and see how crap it was .
After mucho fafferage it would appear that it’s not compatible with an iPhone 15 as I couldn’t get the phone to authenticate with the head unit.

When properly connected via USB, the battery icon on the TFT should turn green as shown here

But mine stayed white and the Motorize app on my phone hung on this screen

Tried six different USB cables then saw on Facebook that a couple of other iPhone 15 users had same issue.

Not overly bothered as reports say the WiFi connection was flaky at best ,plus you have to do all planning on iPhone so was going to stick with iPhone/MRA for navigation anyway.

I’ve reported the issue and if they update the Motorize app in the future I might take another look.

Had my first dry(ish) ride on my GT+ today with even a little bit of sunshine thrown in for good measure. I did 100 miles up over Crai and Sennybridge down through Llandovery to Carmarthen and back home. Do you know, this bike just keeps getting better and better each time I ride it! I must get the fender extenders fitted because the back end of the bike was was covered in crap, l though to be fair, no worse than any other modern bike around, I just wish the designers thought a little more about practicality. But, hey! What a bike!

On that subject; why would anyone attempt to compare the £15k Tracer to the £27k Multistrada Rally? He makes a few criticisms such as the screen, (I am 6’2” and I find it pretty damn good up or down), the seat, (mine is still unmodded and it’s ok and doesn’t wobble either), and I find the head lights and cornering lights just fine, (although I wish Yamaha had both lights available on dipped beam ), but hey, we’re all different and not all of us get paid for swanning around on £27k bikes, do we? Yamaha have made no secret of the Tracer’s origins which perhaps is why it is so enjoyable to ride and yes, the panniers are a funny shape, but they are slim and unobtrusive when riding the bike and filtering, so that has to be a plus, don’t you think? The Tracer in GT+ form is a lot of bike for the money, if you don’t want to pay that much, then Yamaha offer 2 other versions for less money but just as much fun to ride, and that is what motorcycling is all about surely?

As well as the fender extendas I fitted one of these, it all helps. https://pyramidmoto.co.uk/products/pyramid-shock-shield-black-yamaha-tracer-9-gt-2021
I have only managed to get out a couple of times, my big problem is finding myself going 20mph faster every where than I did on the GS.
I always have my next set of tyres waiting for me the garage. I have just ordered Metzeler M7RRs as I will be heading of to Spain and Portugal to play in the mountains, they only have to last for the trip.
There are so many different tyres out there for these bikes, we are spoilt for choice.

As I understand it, you had a problem connecting your iPhone 15 to Tracer via USB. Have you tried connecting via WiFi? Does it work well? I'm currently waiting for my Tracer and I'm wondering if I'll actually have the same problem with the iPhone 15.
