I have imported a track from Google maps, following the below YT. Although I am on a PC and the video is 5 yrs old, I can follow 90% of the steps. I am getting stumped at the track conversion to ensure shaping points are incorporated into the created route as I can't find the 'track conversion' option the video refers too. Can anyone help?

Save yourself a lot of effort, by using:

Google maps routes are KML or KMZ, convert them to GPX. Job done.

I am experiencing the same issue, i.e. imports (post conversion to a .GPX using the above link) as a track and I can't control the shaping points.

Edit: I've just noticed it pulls in way points so it looks like I can use these to make a route and delete the track.

Can you share with us the Google route, you are seeking to convert, please.

If I remember correctly, right click the track in Basecamp and it gives you an option to create a route.

Here is the link

Thank you.

Here is your route, as a GPX

NOTE:

As the route (and the track) is a GPX file, you should be able to load it or both straight into BaseCamp.

I haven’t checked it. Whilst it is probably pretty good, the conversion into a route from a track within MyRoute is not always perfect, at least when it comes to the placement of the shaping points.

It is not hard to check. Do so, before you ride off on your holiday.

Thanks for taking the time to do this much appreciated.

As if to make a point, MyRoute slung point 19 way ‘off route:

Scrap that….

Point 19 is correct. You do want to go into Troyes.

Check and check again.

I found this helped when I was converting tracks to routes earlier for my trip.
I had this exact problem today in base camp, then followed the change to direct, then change back again. Worth a read anyway. https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2262
This is the money shot, cheers. I kept the option as automatic and there are far too many shaping points but I will continue playing with the route planning tomorrow.

Cheers all.

That is one very long route, to install and run in one go.

Break it up into bite sized one day chunks, would be my advice.

Wapping, thanks for all your help. I will be breaking up to daily routes as our actual direction and distance will be how we are feeling and weather dependent
