Tuning

Another one to consider is using AF XIED units.
I've just changed over from a PCV on my TC and would rate it as better than the PCV, particular low down.
No dyno runs required as it tunes itself, plus it's transferable.
Can't rate the AF-XIED against hilltop as have never tried it but guessing not much difference as most people feel seem to feel that the PCV is a fair alternative to a remap.

This months BMW Riders Journal had a Motorrad test carried out on various after market exhausts on LC Boxer Twins.

The Standard BMW System came out on top...but only by a very slim margin.

1. BMW Original = .....Power 121ps .......Torque 118Nm
2. Akrapovic - Titanium = .....P.120ps ..........T.116Nm
3. BOS Desert Fox - Stainless = .....P.120ps ........T.116Nm
4. Sebring Phantom - Stainless = ..... P.120ps ........T.116Nm
5. Zard Penta Style - Carbon = ..... P.120ps ........T.116Nm

So, if the above results are anything to go by, you might be best spending your hard earned cash at Hilltop garage which should definitely give you more bang for your buck! :augie

I am not surprised by this outcome, if just the end pipe was replaced and no additional tuning was undertaken.

After a retune in each case I suspect the outcome would be different.
Also there is a weight reduction with the aftermarket pipes which does influence the power / weight ratio (albeit small)

That must have been one hell of a good standard bike to throw out 121 bhp if those figures are at back wheel
Geoff at hilltop only achieves that on low mileage engines after tune at the wheel so I think those figures are at crank
