So wedgy from this forum and myself decided to take advantage of the cheap brittany ferry return ticket to France last week and have a ride around the Normandy area. It was an early sailing that they class as a cruise due to the 6 hour crossing i guess.
It was a 3.00am start for me to get down to Portsmouth to meet wedgy at the dock for the 7.00 am check in and a trip of roughly the same for wedgy, my journey was pretty faultless apart from 1 diversion due to a off ramp closure on the M1 this just added a little more time for me, wedgey had no such issues until he was actually at the port and queuing to board, all the stopping and starting in the queue had left him with a flat battery or so we thought, (more of that later). I was already on the deck looking back at the queue to board and could see wedgy having to push his bike onto the boat.
Once aboard we met up and had breakfast then settled down to what would be a very calm crossing, with much discussing of the flat battery and what to do once in France, as with it being a sunday if anything was needed there would be nowhere open to get anything should we need to.
So we docked at Ouistreham on time, i got off the boat and waited for wedgy as we guessed he would probably need a jump start or maybe a bump start the latter of wich got him going. so off we trot heading for our campsite not more than about half a mile outside of a little place called Saint-Martin-des-Besaces that was about 40 mile S/W of Ouistreham. It was around 4.00pm when we arrived and by the time we had set up camp it was time for some food. The campsite had a covered outside area for eating and also a small inside area, the food they offer varies depending on high season or low season, during high season they offer a more varied menue and off peak its more of a burgers and chips affair, all very nice though.
