Hello, o you wise ones,
I am about to go touring around france with my better half on the GS and i need new tyres, we will do around 4thousand miles minimum in 2 weeks.
What tyres do you think i should fit and the contenders are
Tourance: fairly cheap, good mileage but a bit vibey and not the greatest grip
Anakee 2: same price but i have heard they square up really quick although better grip and no vibe
Michelin pilot 3: great grip, look a bit odd on a GS (in eyes at least) BUT HOW WELL WILL THEY LAST??? does anyone knows
Please let me know from your superior wisdom

Maybe look at Tourance EXP.. A bit stickier apparently.

Assuming you are not going to go crazy with the better half on the back I would go with the original Tourances, plenty of evidence to suggest that they last longer than the EXP's at the expense of a slightly less grip (subjective though). If searching for the ideal road tyre the pilot 3s are fantastic but I have no idea how long they will last on a GS two up with luggage. Enjoy.

Only on a ZX12R, but they lasted well enough on that, including a run what ya brung session (Wrong end of 180mph for a few runs), they gripped well and did not square off. Really good in the wet as well.

Done nearly 3500 on Road 3's at the min mainly 2 up with luggage and very fast 1 up and I reckon they'll be done in another 1000 miles, not bad I think for the grip and fun factor. Mate of mine has them on a zzr 1400 with 7000 up em!

Exp's for me on my GSA.

I've just bought pilot road 3's. Scrubbed them in and swapped straight back to the exp's.

If anyone wants to make me a sensible offer for the pr3's they've done less than 200 miles and r a week old.

Totally agree, I am on my 3rd set. Fantastic tyres, great grip, wet or dry and the rears each lasted over 8,000 miles before I gave up as they were squared off.

You're spending too little time on grippy Scottish tarmacadam, Ian. My last rear Trail Attack didn't see 5K miles.

The tyes need to be black and round,it is very subjective to how you ride and your feed back. i vavour Tourance and hate Continnental trail attack,they dont hold a line and bad in the rain.
A road tyre will give better milage a freind just had 11k on st poilt 3 on a Yam Fazor 1000.

I have just replaced mine. Front made 13 000 (replaced with 3 mm left but 1 puncture) and rear 13 500. Only replaced rear as doing the 1000 mile endurance and didnt want to risk failure, as much as that can be avoided on a single tyre..No complaints off the conti's. Did a trip to France as well, fully loaded with SWMBO, deck chairs and boogie board! Cannot fault them.

unlucky---no both conti trail attak. And I commmute everyday in central london 13 miles each way so plenty of debri, not much possibility to corner at high speed. I was really impressed with them. Bought from new and wont swap after getting that distance

Never have I heard of someone getting more mileage on the rear than the front and those figures are amazing, though you didn't say what tyre it was only "conti" you didn't say what vehicle it was either, I'm guessing a VW golf 1600 diesel.............
