May seem a silly question
My gs has tourance tyres
The front is ready for replacement and I don't want to fit a tourances nothing wrong with the tyres
I prefer avon distanzia
The rear is a brand new tourance
Has anyone mixed tyres and found the bike rides and performs weird because of the construction
I'm quite happy to mix tyres on my car :thumb2

I had a Tourance front and an Annakee rear on my 1150 when I bought it I wasn't happy with the combination It just didn't feel right when cornering

Wouldn't have Distanzias as a gift.
Happy to have your new Tourance as a gift. :)

What's wrong with avon distanzia have you actually had a bike with them fitted
I have had two sets
felt at home fully loaded two up touring never had a problem
Heard alsorts about tourances splitting and tread parting severe cracking and the latest thread they are wearing out at a alarming rate some not made in Germany gonna stick with what I'm happy with

Tyres are a very personal thing.
Confidence in them being the key.
I have had Distanzias. Never felt confident in the wet. Had two fronts fitted as first one gave a shimmy/wobble.
Mate of mine had them on same bike as me.
Similar riding ability. He had a major slide in the wet with his daughter on the back.
I was behind him 2up so same conditions etc only difference being I was on Tourances. I never had an issue.
I have 250k on my 1100. Used all year round.
Have tried various others. Always gone back to the original Tourance. It suits me and I like its neutral feel.
Have only seen one report of premature wear on Tourance.
In the end most of it comes down to your personal trust in a tyre.
There all pretty good these days.

That's good that you have had experience of the distanzias
And I'm sure you now your onions
It is personal preference I'll see how I go with this combination you may be right
Anyway it's fitted
Leeds bike tyres scholes fitted balanced old one taken away £85

Had distanzias on my 850 till last year. The front was so scary till it was scrubbed in, took ages, real old school!! Ditched them when the front did this.

My 1150s on tourances, but been wanting to try Conti trail attacks, so now have them on the 850, very very impressed, straight out o the box:thumb2

A little bird told me, a few months back, that Avon are bringing out their new Storm 3D in adventure sizes, but I reckon I've had enough of them. Had problems with other tyres of theirs, and the rear 3D I've got on another bike has a shed load of lead to balance it. Tried three positions on the rim too, all miles out!!
