Ultraseal tyre sealant

Has anybody used Ultraseal ?

I received an information sheet from Motorworks this morning on it, together with a review from the BMW club technical officer. It seems too good to be true.
No punctures , improved tyre life , inject the stuff in your tyres and forget it. all for 25 quid !

Whats the catch ?

My conclusion was that you either like it or you don't take it or leave it.

People who I met with it fitted are really grateful if they have had a puncture and will not do without it.

Anyhow I still have not fitted it. I guess if I was in town all the time filtering I would do no question as you tend to pick up nails etc.

Late...but worth it I feel

Last time around I didn't give my thoughts but here goes...

I was party to an interesting debate at the local meet of 'the other club' which may or may not be relevant to GS'ers.

It appears that over 90MPH bikes fitted with this stuff suffer from from a destabilising weave - please don't get on my case about speed limits etc. It's just fact that's all. The manufacturers are aware of it but saying little. The chief technical officer of 'the other club' is aware of it but it seems they are both a bit 'tucked-up' with each other - huge feature and 'unbiased' technical article in the same months journal - now a club backed promotion using Motorworks mail list, so they're not exactly objective.

Also two other things to note - once this stuff is fitted you cannot balance the wheel - period and many tyre fitment centres won't repair a tyre which is fitted with it.

For someone like me who is inherently maintenance-shy (read lazy) you just might forget to bother checking the tyres any more and ride in ignorance until its too late.

So for me anyway if I'm to get a puncture so be it - get recovered and get it fixed - no goo in the tyre means more often than not they'll repair it and I'm on my way again - if the puncture's dangerous I'd want to know and have a new tyre every time. But what do I know
