V-Strom 800DE

Sounds like a good bike and they are very cheap nearly new, probably mechanically bullet proof too being a Suzuki. They should have offered tubeless, as not many will take it off-road and tubes are a pain in the arse if you get a puncture.

The bike I rode was a year old with 25000 kms on it. Rode like a new bike

They do as the RE model, its 17" street rubber and larger screen might have been better than a DE for the roads in Arsey's videos.

I prefer the look of the brighter paint schemes and spokes on the DE, reckon they would sell more if it was tubeless. The RE looks a bit bland to me.

Not at all.
They have the RE at CMT but all the tour guides including the owner said the DE handled much better , had better turn in despite the 21” front wheel and had better suspension for the few rough roads we rode. So I never bothered to try it.

I see that Suzuki have an £800 off offer on the 800 range including the DE

IMG_1544.jpegHere’s mine .
I have farkled it up with various bits :-
Veridian cruise control ( Easy to fit and is of factory quality ) it functions perfectly 👍
Heed crash bars + bar bags
3 banks switched Aux lights
Fender extender
Hugger
Gps
Powered tank bag
2x 2L extra fuel
All my usual camping stove bottles etc
Heated grips
Center stand
Cobra chain oiler
Big foot on the side stand
Better hand guards
Pair of wind deflectors
Taller screen - Puig ( still ain’t quite there with clean air )
Grip Puppies
And the biggie - starting today - Going Tubless ,, one of the main companies that do this who are in in Italy ( bartubless) say the rims can take Tubless ( they do this and issue a warranty )
I am having a go myself today -
I am just back from more or less a circuit of Scotland on it - and this works as a replacement for my big old GSA .IMG_1583.jpegIMG_1544.jpegIMG_1573.jpegIMG_1577.jpegIMG_1553.jpeg

Great motors, aren’t they ? Why would anybody need more grunt ?

It is ,,, an ASTONISHING motor ,, supposedly 84 HP ,, but they must be racehorses / cart horses on speed or summat cos when you open the taps this wee mid weight ADV bikes can seriously lift up its skirts and GO . ( the quick shifter is excellent too ! )
It is also ( Imho ) a safe ride , as it doesn’t tank slap or “ get out of shape “ very stable at 60 - 70 you can take your hands off the bars and it tools along without picking up any bar shake/ weave etc .
All things considered I am pleased with my purchase 👍IMG_1586.jpegGetting it sorted for Tubless tyres now 👍

Don’t be put off by the lack of cruise ,,, because the Veridian unit is ,, as I said ,,of factory fit quality and works as well as any other I have used 👍👍
The u tube fitting video is EXCELLENT 👍👍 including - a full set of instructions on how to de- panel the bike and lift the tank , which was really useful as I was going to have to do this to fit in all the new wiring ( the heal tech 32 A thing is a brilliant wee bit of kit for a full set of wiring without “ Cutting into “ the machine IMG_1508.jpeg

Yes I’ve got a couple of Thunder Box’s on bikes .
I might have bought an 800 sooner but got sidetracked by a cheap 600 mile 1050 which is a brilliant bike too !

That’s a nice thing too ,, I looked at them ,,, they are very good value for what you get for your money , but I found it a bit heavy for my beaten up aging old frame 😂

It was £8995. Six months old and 600 miles with first service done . Taking it to Spain and Portugal next month . It’s heavier than the 800 but has a much better OE screen . If they brought out a tubeless 800 with cruise and tubeless I could be tempted

Need A better screen too small,Anyone changed it yet.?
Great bike tho
