Voge DS900X

Maybe Voge and other Chinese manufacturers will sell bikes that initially meet Euro 5+ then provide an update for owners to install that fuels them properly, circumventing the stupid regulations. It seems that 4.7 solves the fuelling and throttle response without needing any invisible magic nonsense from the fool on the hill. Surely nobody still pays for that?

He’s such a fool that people like Micheal Dunlop trust him to fettle their TT bikes….
But agreed about the Voge updates. Seems pretty proactive to enable owners to self-update their bikes without needing to visit their dealers.

When you were previously bleating on about 'values falling off a cliff' on these Voge bikes, someone else posted about hsi experience with his F900XR...plenty of BMWs have piss poor depreciation (While others seem to do OK)
I guess time will tell on depreciation, but looking at second hand values of Chinese bikes it’s not looking too good

You may be right, but think back to the early days of the jap bikes. Wasn’t it the same then, and look how that turned out.

And which bikes are holding their value ?
Many reports elsewhere on here of bikes such as 2024 1300GS losing £8 k in as many months .

That depreciation buys you a new Voge ..

Round and round this thread goes, where it stops…nobody knows!

My thoughts exactly. Back in a previous life, one of my jobs was to set the value on trucks being returned after 3 and 5 year contracts.

It was a crystal ball job but we looked into the science of it quite deeply and spent a long time working out how other manufactures did it.

It seemed that everyone used a 30% - 20% - 20% depreciation for the first 3 years and as far as I'm aware, this is still fairly valid for most vehicles.

As long as people are aware of this, resale shouldn't either be an issue or too much of a shock.

Which depreciates even more.

I do hope that the Voge is a good reliable machine , which in turn means it’s a low depreciation asset , and that benefits us all . The trouble is the Chinese products of any kind , over the last 10 years haven’t been as such . Let’s hope the next 10 years are good for Chinese motorcycle production. It’s looking promising but time will tell

If I buy a voge 900 for 9300 quid and have it 3 years then push it off a cliff, I’d be reasonably happy with that level of depreciation.

During those 3 years I’m sure I’ll enjoy many adventures at a cost of £8.50 a day, that’s a bargain.

If I decide to not push it off a cliff and get say 3000 quid back that’s now £5.80 a day.

So for 2 cups of coffee I’ve had a well specced bike and a lot of fun and get nothing back, still a bargain.

For 1 cup of coffee a day I get 3 years riding a fun bike, many adventures and some money back too.

So basically I can’t really lose, I have fun, enjoy riding, decrease my caffeine intake and can concentrate on enjoying my bike , not fretting over how much I’ll lose over a few years.

I’d have one tomorrow, in black please

Yeap , I can’t fault your logic .

As long as it’s still worth £3k after 3 years

As long as it’s reliable ! And if it breaks it’s repaired under warranty swiftly with no further issues .

If it’s worth zero after 3 years I’d still consider that good value, assuming it’s behaved ok.

I can’t lose.

These bikes will send shivers down the spines of BMW , KTM etc and rightly so.

The only downside I can see is that you are

“Supporting China in general”

But that falls down immediately if you have a fridge, microwave etc etc etc etc etc.

My Voge can’t depreciate £8k in 8 months because it didn’t cost me £8k new, fully loaded.
There’s a good chance it won’t be worth much in a couple of years, but it will be worth more than zero.

Perception needs to change .And the UK will be the last place it will , owing to the fact that the archetypal Brit biker hates change, and hates pretty much anything that isn’t their idyll…combined with a weird need to conform and intermittent blinkeritis 😜

Just look at how many on here slated the DCT on various Hondas, usually never having even tried it.
Roll on 2024/25 and BMW, KTM and Yamaha all launch auto options on bikes.

PCPs have ruined the UK bike market .Just look at how many stealerships (natch) have gone bust.

The pool of 50+ year old tossers who ‘upgrade’ to the latest Wankpanzer (other varieties are available) is diminishing year by year .Most can’t afford £20k for a base model unless they pound the PCP route.

They’re also getting old and knackered (looks in mirror and at fucked foot).

FFS-Manufacturers are even milking this by adding in new tricks such as bikes that lower when you get to walking pace, enabling the old and infirm (that’s us) to continue to be able to ride a 250kg bike that we really don’t need.

Slowly but surely the tide is turning .Yes, there’s still a market for the big bikes, especially for those that tour two up.
I love my Wing (thinking of selling it last year was an aberration) and it’s perfect for two up,and easily manageable with its creeper mode for car park manoeuvres etc.

But I’m done with big powerful adventure bikes.I really don’t want a 170bhp 250kg weapon-heck I sold my 1290R as I preferred the feel and ride of the ATAS.

And I see more and more people moving to the smaller bikes such as Triumph 400s or Himmy 450s etc-we even did a trip this year on two 450s and a 300.

Folks on here are buying a 400 for the weekend and then realising they actually ride it more than their big GS/Multi/etc etc.

Wife then says she’s done with touring so big bike gets sold.

Thats why I can see bikes like the Voge 900 becoming more popular. (It’s sold out till next spring anyway).

Folks will have a ‘small’ bike such as a 400 for meeting the lads and going for a spin and then they’ll have something like the Voge in the garage for the trips away.

Why have a £25k GSA sat in the a garage losing a grand a month when you can have a £9k bike that can do 80% of what the GSA can for 30% of the cost ?

Thats my reason for getting one anyway-living on an island and only doing 2/3 proper trips a year.

The Voge will probably only do one trip next year (Spain/Portugal) as I want to use my other bikes for other stuff.

But I also bought the Voge as an experiment. I want to see how it holds up after some use. Both in terms of reliability and usability/quality.

Absolute worse case scenario-it’s not worth a penny in two years (unlikely)-then I’ve lost less than £8k. Or put another way-less than some on here have lost since April this year on their must have 1300 Wankpanzer when they just have to trade up to the 1300 UberWankpanzer…..which then depreciates at £1000 per month……

Oh, and the best bit about having the Voge is reading some of the comments on here from the usual suspects who will forever more put vanity before sanity.

Fucking cheap chinky shite 😜

Yeah but your strategy is flawed.
You could have a new 1300 and lose £35 per day.
Ok, that’s four times as much as you lose on the Voge but you’ll be having four times the adventure and going four times as far and four times as fast.
Get the 1300. No pockets in shrouds. 😜

Good point.

But I’ve worked out that my next cup of coffee is now affordable in 2057.

No Bel Vita = No Adv Trips = No Coffee

1300 will have to wait.

Plus I can get to the dealership 4 times quicker and 4 times more often to get it sorted…..

On reflection the 900 is a piece of fook me fook yu garbage……

But I still getting one
