Waterproof over trousers with a side zip?

The pac light are obviously very popular. Finding a pair in my size is not straight forward!

It doesn't mention the Paclite being breathable, which is ok for sitting still on the bike.

Hill walking however will results in you getting wet through from your own sweat!

Edit: Ignore  a quick search confirms that they are indeed breathable too.

They are gore Tex which is breathable. I believe that is the whole point of gore Tex.

I was led to believe that not all goretex is breathable, don't know if its true or not.

A google search and description by other retailers does say that Paclite is breathable though apparently (y)
So I stand corrected.

Berghaus paclite are definitley GoreTex, they do a model called Stormcloud with a different waterproofing
I have been in summer showers with the Paclites and once it dries up, if you don't want to stop, then the 2 way zip can be opened from the top to let air in as well

From a review

Gore-Tex describes the Paclite fabric in one of its brand workbooks as “extremely breathable”, and it has an official RET score of <6 – which is an impressive, premium-end rating. This is logical, as the lighter, thinner Paclite fabric has a less clammy, less plastic-y and more breathable feel to the touch compared to heavier, 3-layer options.

Berghaus is a bit of an outlier and describes these trousers as 2-layer, choosing not to identify the laminating method as a 0.5 layer. But Gore-Tex’s workbook states all Paclite products are 2.5-layer. Clear as mud? We thought so.
As with all Gore-Tex products, the Berghaus Paclite Pant has a minimum hydrostatic head rating of 28,000mm, which is a reassuringly top-tier grade. All Gore-Tex products come with Gore’s “guaranteed to keep you dry” promise too.
The zippers in these pants are water-resistant with an external stormflap, while all of the seams are sealed to ensure water-tight protection

Breathability is further enhanced by the presence of large side zippers on each legs. These are ¾-length, two-way side zippers, which run from the top of the quads to the base of the ankle cuff. These can be unzipped either downwards or upwards to create large airy gaps in the side of the trousers for excellent ventilation – it works very well. At the ankle cuff a press stud button keeps the cuff closed around the ankle while you unzip upwards. An extra press stud located halfway between the ankle and knee adds further versatility to your venting options, as well.

July 2020 I bought mine, used only on the bike, never let any water in however bad the rain. I wear Daytona GTX short boots and never had a issue with the leg riding up the boot
Possibly by my using a cool cover on the seat, the water gets to drain from the crotch area ?? Never got wet though

BMW Rainlock trousers.... bit pricey, but excellent quality and easy to get on...

Not what you asked, but

I hear that putting a carrier bag over your boot helps them slide through very easily, but not tried it myself.
This does work, helps the boot slide through without snagging.
Just remember to take the bag off before riding off 🤣

I have a set of Bering waterproofs ( I have never been wet so far ) the trousers come a long way up and the jacket goes a long way down , the trousers have zips right up the legs , easy to put on and good quality 👍
