Have a look at this review, done at the time I think.

I did enjoy that - thanks for posting. Shows just how much bikes have moved on in the last 30 years. The review calls the R80ST 'sporty' and even goes as far as to state that the brakes are adequate:D:eek:

As an R80ST owner I know full well that its far from sporty and terrifyingly under-braked - but it is a lot of fun:thumby:

Could I get a copy of a few of those photos you've taken fella, I've started putting photos of my higher end paint jobs up on the wall in the workshop :D

Of course you can. I will take some proper ones at some point, maybe even with a scantily clad lovely in attendance! :D

I actually really like the letter box shot you've attached above, could you email it to me per chance?

thank you for the replies, much appreciated.

the screen appears to be original, it has a bmw badge embossed in the plastic itself and he has an invoice for that with relevant part numbers for the screen and fitting kit.

Yes, that's definitely an original bmw screen and mounting kit. I've got an identical one on my R65 .

There was also a genuine BMW nose fairing available to fit the ST... I've got one of those somewhere in the bmw ST red finish...

My thoughts exactly. When mine was original, it was pleasant enough but out of its depth on fast dual carriageways - and hopeless two-up with luggage.

Funny how you get complete opposite opinions on the same thing. I toured two up for up to six weeks while camping around europe on an R65 quite a few times without any problems back in the eighties and the bike was absolutely loaded up to the hilt..

An 800cc bike was a big bike in the mid 1980's

You're delusional, everyone knows you need at least 120BHP to go touring these days .......... :augie
