Its about time I bought a new helmet but which one?,I find my arai to be quite loud at speed and don't like ear plugs so any ideas, quite like the look of the shoei flip up,any one got one, what are they like?

I suggest that you get to like earplugs or you'll irrevocably damage your hearing - if you haven't done so already.

Got a Shoue Multitech which is a great helmet but not quiet without earplugs. Actually, I don`t know any helmet which is quiet without plugs:eek:

I've used Shoei flipfronts for years - must have had three or four - although I haven't got the latest one, but the one before it.
I quite happy with them, obviously 'cos I keep buying them.
I use flipfronts 'cos I wear glasses, and it's far less hassle than a full face, with the added bonus that you can lift it for riding to look at the scenery, or if it's stinkin'hot.
Plus you don't get asked to take it off so much for shops and the like.

As with all helmets -- try before you buy!!

They come with a pinlock now, as well as normal visors, but I can't get on with the pinlock, so don't use it, but no problems with misting in the rain.

And I don't use earplugs.

you can only go on what fits you really,
i like caberg, but to some, they dont fit right,
lend as many helmets as you can an try em , see what you think yourelf,
a noisy/uncomfortable helmet for some is a perfect fit etc for others

Arai Chaser:thumb2 and ear plugs:thumb2:thumb2. Don't feel comfortable riding anymore without earplugs. The last thing you want is tinnitus:rob.
Try different styles of earplugs to find which work best for you. I use the cheap yellow ones the come in bags of 50 pairs and they work great and I don't notice them until one works its way loose if i've not put it in right.

:aiding have been keen to replace my system 5 and was considering a C3 but have just read a negative report on it in the latest Bike mag any other good reports out there, oh and while I'm online come'on Ireland

Hi Indecisive, looked at the tour x but don't they buffer around with the plastic sail on the front?

Have a Shoei Multitech II and am happy with it - does what it says on the tin, but wouldn't wear it without earplugs for journeys more than 20 miles.

Had a Schuberth C3 before - good, but not as good although quieter. It had a fiddly catch to lift the front. Tested at 60mph on the A47 and seemed to work:pullface

Before that it was Caberg - cheap, heavy, noisy.

Think the pinlock is fantastic - works in snow, rain and sun - brilliant. I am not bothered by the supposed probs with blurred edges to the vision cos I ride with my eyes shut in terror anyway!:D

I've had many .. but I have to say.. and I know many will disagree, but I like my Caberg Justissimo! So much so I have just bought the new version. I find it comfy, quiet (not the best granted) and the internal slide down sun visor is superb and all at £130. At least try one before dismissing it.

Ride slower or just get one to wear off the bike :D

I know what you mean .. I got one a couple of years ago and after half an hour, I decided to sell it. It jogged my eyeballs and made me dizzy.

I'd pitch in with my twopenneth but I guess it's only aimed at 1200 owners
