What to do??

So here is my problem.....

I have had my 1200 GS for 3 years now. I sold my 05 VFR 800 v tec to buy it and I think it's great.
It's always been a battle with BM all the way. 2 new wire wheels, a new final drive, 2 new mirrors, a new headlight, 3 top yokes, the front engine cover sorted(corrosion) the fuel pump thing that always goes

Just had the 3 year service to discover that the boot/gaiter behind the gearbox is rotting, gonna be about £170 for BM to sort. Dealer dosnt want to know and neither does BM customer service.

So flecked off am looking at a VFR 1200fd

Was thinking along the lines of the VFR1200 at one stage but didnt like it when I saw it in the flesh, small 19 l tank and an awful looking exhaust made me change my mind, take a test ride on the new Triumph 800 or the 800XC, you will not be disappointed, I traded in a k1200r & a r1150gs against one Oberon

Its not to bad to change if you go at it yourself, i think i have one somwhere.

If you are changing, don't discount the F800 GS, absolutely cracking bike.
Of course, that would entail staying with BMW, but had no issues with mine.

I have spoken to Brian. When I explained what had happened with BM customer service he didn't seem surprised.

He has worked on my bike before and done a great job. Just as good (if not better) than BMW. I think that will be the way forward but the VFR 1200fd still looks sooooo good.

Then I ride my GS and all is well with the world

How can a bloody bike that has had so many bits changed on it still make me want to keep it!

On the few times we met.... You looked like you were ON the VFR 800. whereas, you look part of the BMW. Same will go for the 1200 VFR.

I know... I sit on my new KTM... Recently I have been very close to taking a big hit and returning to my old faithful GSA.

Anyone out there considering a 2011 KTM 990 Advnture Dakar Edition with a few extras at a keen price???

I know how you feel, bought a GSA new from BMW

have had nearly all the problems that are associated with them , one after the other (no final drive issues as yet though)but did get a full subframe replacement due to corrosion
a mate of mine on this site (edmac) had the same issues but BMW refused to help.. so he is taking them to court. I think in your case, as in his there is a proven track record of issues with the bike. The funny thing is the closer to the court date he gets, the better the settlement offers from BMW are becoming.

but even after all my issues I still love that bloody bike and it is the only one out of all the bikes that I have owned that I really enjoy riding each and every time

Don't give up on the GS, if you like it you would regret buying theHonda. Give me a call & we will get it sorted out before the really bad weather sets in.
