Just curious before i start looking for a 1200GS to replace my 1150...what year should i be looking for to ensure the twin cam 110bhp engine ??
You might be disappointed i went from the 1150 to a 1200GSA (110) and it isn't that good
maybe i should have a look for a nice 1150ADV with lower miles..decisions decisions..
you'd regret that - please ignore the 1150 nay-sayers
Not the same as going from 1150 to 1200GS which is what OP said. You might be disappointed i went from the 1150 to a 1200GSA (110) and it isn't that good

was there not an increase of power on the 2008 model upwards?

Yes 105bhp up from 100bhp.

I liked my 2002 1150ADV, it was my first proper GS and did everything i wanted of it at the time, faultlessly!
I liked my 2007 HP2E aswell, it was handbuilt, much lighter but a bit rough round the edges for a 1200 and had crap brakes and suspension but it was unique.
I really do like my 2010 GSA30 it's just in a different league, pulls like a train, looks and sounds fantastic for a GS!
I can totally understand how folks like their ten year old 1150GS's though but Charles Darwin was right..........!

Yep. i agree time does move on..i do find the 1150 lacking sometimes on performance...just runs out of steam when you are riding with sprit sometimes, i'm used to 100bhp + bikes so i'm hoping to feel more at home on a 1200..![]()
Kidding aside having done big miles on both the 1200 is in a different league at higher revs and speeds. They're closer at low to mid range although the twin-cam is a peach of an engine at any speed![]()
