Despite riding slowly, I was always a little way ahead so waited at a junction deep in the woods for her to catch up.
The last couple of miles had been tricky, 30 seconds passed before I turned my engine off to listen for her's.
There can be few sounds so sobering as that of your wife's scream from a forest in central Normandy. This from a woman who doesn't do screaming.
It didn't take long to cover that quarter of a mile on my 550 Husaberg.
Throwing my down my bike I found her down a bank and tangled in the undergrowth, legs trapped at a scary angle under the right hand side of her bike, back arched as the side stand caught her left ruck sack strap almost choking her.
Fuel was pouring from the tank overflow as I asked where she hurt, I untangled her and as each wrenched knee came free I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Spot her rear wheel on the left.
