That just changed it to 19.5:49.5... That should keep the thread going for a few more day...:D

RE: "you will probably find the reason they chop and change on oil recomendation is which ever oil company gives them the biggest backhander"

I think I remember 11's were recommended for 20:50 for the 1st 20k miles. Then the 1150's had special "running in oil" which was changed to 10:40 at 600 mile service. Now we are back to 20:50. Also the number of folk that could "tell" the extra smoothness/"power release" with their super spec oils:augie

I could never get a staight answer out of my parts guy on why the dealers GPS was twice the price of the Halfords across the road:eek: Hence now i do as much of my own work as possible:D

Tip... You used to be able to buy your own oil and take it in... and save about £20. I don't think they charged "corkage"...

I'm happy with 10/40 or 20/50.........................as you say it makes bugger all difference.........................but no oil would make a huge difference to the bike's engine :blast

I just put any oil in mine....whichever is cheapest, it runs just the same with all of them, and i never had engine wear problems.

There is more crap written about oil and tyres than anything else on this site...they're all basically the same.:green gri

One is runny and slippery. The other is black, round and rubbery. :D

PS Bevel failures don't count:D

Oh......and I forgot to mention spark plugs;they're all the same too, different makes and number of electrodes, none of it makes any difference!:rob
