Hi
I have a R1200GS 2008 and I noticed a whirring sound coming from the left hand side of the engine which is most prominent around 2000rpm, this can be in neutral or whilst riding and will rise and fall with the revs. I thought it might have been the alternator bearings but I removed the belt and it made no difference to the noise. I reckon I have had this since buying the bike, around 2 years, it was just the other day when I was next to the same year of bike the engine sounded more solid without the whirring noise and it got me thinking what it could be. There is no problem in the performance or riding of the bike. Any ideas on where to look or if there is even an issue would be great.
Cheers
