Hi Engineer - I'm sorry, I remember that, you can blame my wife.....!
I've not talked to TJ since but I'm hoping for a March delivery - I understand each dealer has to order 5 bikes, one in each colour plus one for sale.
I've specked a TE with spoke wheels in red - I'm just hoping that's enough to get it through quickly.
Still want to see the KTM, but I'm pretty convinced I'll go with the GS.

yes you have to pay trough you nose for a bike in Norway,26000£ for my 1200 gs rally last year,delear is offering me 200000 in a trad in on the new gs.
compaird with uk the income in norway is higer,and the cost of living is higher
just payed 12£ for a pint of lager at the taxfree store at Oslo airport
taxes is very high so we dont end up as greece and the rest of the south off alps countries.
havent made up my mind yet,but think there will be many "old" 1200gs for sale next season,and the prices will fall like a stone.
Will testride first,dealer hopes to have the new bikes in store in feb 2013.

I have ordered both of your bikes with the factory today. No idea of an exact delivery date yet though but being the eternal optimist, I am hoping they will turn up for the launch which is pencilled in for Saturday 2nd March.
Quite interesting seeing some of the comments on here though as we won't have a price confirmed to us until January not at the NEC show and no dealers have been given their allocation for next year yet so we won't know how many we will be getting.
They are going to sell out though, there's no mistaking that.
We have been given the full options list today & that is an absolute minefield!
Luckily, your 2 bikes were easy to order. I can't post on here the options list but feel free to pop in & have a look - very confusing!

Are you sure? I've been told by a dealer that prices WILL be announced at the show, and BMW's website states that prices will be released in November.

i was talking to a dealer yesterday, 27 deposits and september delivery, if you dont put a deposit on one there could be a possibility that all next years allocation will be gone
Which dealer was that? I was in Chandlers in Brighton yesterday, and they've only had two deposits, one of which is mine.

After seeing the range today I've confirmed with Steve at Astle my order is for a white one. I've also ditched the engine bars from my spec.

Not under the lights at lights at the NEC, it looked real flat a bit like an old Ford Escort in need of a good T-Cut.
The stand staff did say it looks great in daylight and described it as a real deep blood red.
I'm going with cast, TE spec with alarm. I've got spoke on my 07 GS but don't see the need and the new cast design is really nice.
I'll keep the ZEGA boxes and just switch sides. if TT don't get the new frames out pronto I'll make my own S/Steel ones.
Took a gander at the WC GS today at the NEC. They have four bikes on show including low suspension and low seat. Colour wise the white one looked surprisingly good with Red a safe choice.
The staff said they were production bikes and would be going onto the press fleet after the show.
The superficial finish was excellent with quality mouldings, rich anodising and good panel fit.
Sitting on the bike it seems lower and narrower than the last version with a more supportive seat. Instrumentation is neat as well as switchgear as far as one can tell going broom, broom crackle pop at a bike show. Ergos seem good with the possible exception of cramped legs but the seats were on low setting.....it's OK but could be better.
The screen is sculptured thus giving the indication that it has been designed in the 'wind' but it will be on the small side for my 6'2" frame. The adjustment mechanism works very easily (it's a cleverly designed feature)and gives you the opportunity to remove your hand from the throttle to turn the adjusting wheel ( but I kept the engine going with my broom, broooom, blat blaaaat), explain that one Mr BMW??? All riders want to adjust on the go, especially at speed, otherwise how do you know it's in the correct position?Ahhhhhhh. Oh, putting it on the left side would slightly hide the speedo! Well move the speedo 10mm to the right!
The mirrors have been designed by a stylist poached from Ducati, I know, a stylist let loose on the GS......but restricted to the mirrors. They are all swoopy doopy and so small you will only see half a S10000000RR trying to get by.
Bring back round mirrors that you can just glance at and not need to 'peer' at for 10 seconds.
The hydraulic clutch was feather-light to pull and bodes well for long distance days for those with tender dannies. Very encouraging compared to Triumph et al.
The bike just seems 'right'. Just like it should be. My guess is that it will feel lighter and more agile and combined with the new telever with dynamic suspension will win World Superbike next year. It will be good.

I thought that too when I had a sit on it,
did you find the centre stand arm got in the way of your left foot though?
when I put the balls of my feet on the pegs I found I was either pushing the stand down with my heal or getting my foot stuck between the stand and the frame, didn't feel right at all.
I can't afford one for a long time anyway so wont be an issue for me for a while
