Just bought a pair of slipscreen Winglets but am unsure of exact correct positioning.
Anyone know please?
Can't see any previous info.
Bikes a 56 reg 1200 GS.

Not sure on your year, but on the 2010/ 2012 tc they have a lug under the plastic that is there for fitting the winglets to. I used a red hot small screw driver pushed up through the hole in the lugs, like a hot knife through butter. If there are no lugs be careful not to mount them to far forwards, as to not interfere when you turn the bars full lock. I'm sure somebody will be along soon with more advice.

I found the holes(provided) in the metal work and drilled pilot holes up from below, easier than it sounds....have a feel about, and a look with a torch and a wee mirror. Job well worth doing..

Mines. Late 2007 so it doesn't have the later bracing underneath.
I will have a look at as many photos as I can find to position as I can.

I recently fitted slip screen winglets to my 07 GSA....I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them up if it helps....

That would be great Keith, cheers.
From memory yours are Slipscreen ones too aren't they, so should make it easier for reference.
Look forward to seeing them.

Indeed they are Gerry; they are a perfect fit..........I'll take pics of the fitted position on both sides.

OK, some pics re: positioning....

Right side:

The M5 x 20 bolts are fastened to these (see pic), which are fixed on the underside of the plastic fairing:

Many thanks Keith.
I will go and explore and see if I have the fixing points underneath.
Are the fixings you used the ones that came with the winglets?
Thanks for going to the trouble of taking and posting the pix.

No trouble @ all....:D

I didn't use the fasteners that came with the winglets; I used 4 rubber washers (to use as mini dampers) and 4 black M5 bolts that I bought from Pro Bolt...black to 'blend' in with the dark tint of the winglets.....;)

If your bikes never had winglets you might need to drill the holes there are moulding marks inside the beak but needs to be removed if you need to drill them ?

As I guessed my GS doesn't have any plate/fixings beneath the panel where the winglets fit. I will reinforce the panel underneath having positioned the winglets as per your piccies.
Thanks again.
Will report back of success or otherwise!

Thanks for more info, appreciate will need to drill holes for fixings but so far can't see the markings underneath for the fixings but have found what looks like the position for additional 12v power outlets.
I think I will take off the beak and have a proper look.
Thanks again for the input.

That's the one I have been following, cheers.
Thanks, I will be giving it a go tomorrow.
I was planning to fit a 12v acc socket so think best to fit that first which would be a good guide to ensure the winglets marry up.

For bods with the AF screen and Winglets .

Do the winglets make a noticeable difference once fitted along with the AF screen ! I have the AF screen and just don't want to drill the fairings for no significant gain.

Thx .
