So..brake servo & clutch fluid, Datatool in the bin ;), engine oil & maybe FD oil. Fuel tank is almost empty and have added some 'Forte' as I have some maintenance to do and it would be almost impossible to lift off/on a full tank of GSA fuel :(. Can I just use some cheap brand 10/40 semi synthetic in the engine over winter & change it in the spring?

Also, should I put some oil into the cylinders through the spark plugs? Bound to have forgotten something...

I'm riding a CCM through winter and am thinking of taking out some shares in WD40 given the amount that I'm spraying over it now

How many years are you laying the bike up for ! You must have severe winters to warranty doing all that.

Too much reading of the bike press me thinks.

Clean, dry it off, cover up and put it on a trickle charger

Service it next year when you are going to be riding it.

Exactly

I just switch mine off in late October, park on the centre stand & start up again in March

Just park it in the garage all winter cleaned & on a battery charger, for 1-2 days once a month

No dramas

My 1150R stood for 6 years with no pre-palaver done.

I changed the oils, filled with fresh fuel, turned the engine over with the injector electric connectors disconnected, reconnected the connectors and started it up.

Same procedure for my old R100GS which was stored for 13 years, except emptied the carb float bowls before storing it.

One tip. Do not wash the bike and then store it away.

Oh, just one more thing... don't refer to your bike as the "beast", it's embarrassing, unless you're 10 years old. .

What's with all this 'winterising' anyway? It will snow for maybe a couple of days in this country when it becomes decidedly dodgy to ride, otherwise it is easily possible to ride most days of the year, and some of them in winter are far more enjoyable than the overcrowded roads in summer. It's just a bike, and life's too short to spend it sat in a cage in traffic jams. :D

Oh - and whilst we're talking about 10yr olds' vocabulary - "cage"? Really? :D

Ok you bunch of sarcastic fannies , fair enough! I now need to think of some suitable return comments...

Anyway, I'm only garaging the 'beast' (hey Steptoe..:upyou...but in the nicest possible way of course :D ) to stop her corroding away (have you seen the amount of raw salt they throw down north of Watford ) and to hopefully keep a wee bit of value!
I'm running my CCM all winter & was out messing around for over 5 hours today while you were all spending too much time online and eating biscuits (read more thoroughly please Mr Grim Rider ;) ) and I hope to post some similar photos' to the only real man on this forum....Kawanor :bow.

I've just finished rinsing the feckin salt off my CCM, had a beer and now it's time for food. So..what have you all done this afternoon, apart from drink tea and eat biscuits :D

That's one thing I'm definitely not guilty of! I don't buy/read any of the overpriced printed bike tat, I think that it's more just down to plain old OCD
