Winterising the beast.

Bugger - better put mine on the centre stand by the sound of it... :(

Me too, forgot about that...

This winterising malarkey is stressful with the 1150.

My last GS was parked up in a barn for 6 months prior to selling her.. Started on the button when I put the battery back on.

Don't get stressed.. they are solid bits of kit.

Dave.

Salt on the road

Also in north-Norway,the startet to use salt,on the road, during winter,,it is terrible for the bike,,it is importan to flush with water, after the ride,,and then use W40,or something like that...

I didn't realise that they salted the roads there as well! I was out skiing in Lyngen a couple of years ago and the roads were just snow ploughed and gravel was thrown down, our car had studded tyres but people just got on with things.
Flying out from Tromso airport in a white out storm was an experience though

Salt is an absolute b*****d....

Yeah , I realise that but I'm just a bit (over) particular about all things mechanical.

In 2011 we had temperatures here at minus 18c, a mechanic at a local bike shop said that he had never had so many fork seals to change as he had that year and it was purely down to the temperature and bikes being left uncovered outside and in garages.
Long term forecast for this year is mild, wet & windy again ffs :(

Wil it be a white Chrismas?

never winternised a bike they are designed for out side good canvas sheeting like Steptoe says never wash it but !!! I do cover the stanchions with white grease protects the chrome sometimes run the bike up to temperature. keep the battery charged

Exactly

I just switch mine off in late October, park on the centre stand & start up again in March

Just park it in the garage all winter cleaned & on a battery charger, for 1-2 days once a month

No dramas
That's the one👌👍

What about tyre pressures, nobody has mentioned the tyre pressures. They've got to be even numbers as well.....I can't bear uneven numbers.

Storagesnorage.....just ACF all over the "Beast"....
......schedule stops at Bmw dealerships for warming tea and buscuits and ride all winter.
