Woops, looks like a 1300

Scary.... It was posted yesterday on another thread.

It's very unlikely that a couple of spokes coming loose has caused this. If you read the other thread, it's suggested that the brake calliper has come loose and gone into the spokes, this is a more likely reason. it once happened to me on a pushbike when my rear light came loose and broke a number of spokes, threw me off and knack'd the rim.

Sorry didn’t see the other thread.

It goes to show that wearing good kit probably saved this fellow from a long spell in hospital or worse...
I think you will find that some expert high flyer veterans recon that good and sometimes expensive kit is a rip off. Duccini from Aldi is much better :spl1f: .
Chap is the clip has a RUKKA suit.

Interesting to understand the commentary in Spanish but he explains what happened and at one point someone clearly says “ defecto de fabrica”. Factory defect. Interesting to know if BMW got to hear about this one which I guess they did. Indeed kit seems to have saved him a lot of damage

That looks nasty.. Glad the guy ok.. not got a clue what caused that spill.. by the looks of the bike I hope he bought a lottery ticket.. bikes can be repaired or replaced" we can't" I use Rutkka gear not sure what speed he came off at and how long he slid along the ground for but would off thought the Rukka gear would have stood up better than that.. suppose you could say.. if it was not Rukka gear he may of lost some skin.. either way at least he walk away from what appears to be a bad spill..

It's what happens when accountants and procurement staff run the business instead of the engineers....
Sad place for BMW, recent quality is a joke.
No way on this planet I would ride a 1300.
My mate just hired a GS from a company in South Spain. Flew to Málaga and hired a GS.
Initially the 1300;was listed at a 15 euro / day extra option. When he got there the counter assistant offered a free upgrade to rent a 1300 instead of a 1250. My mate declined.
When in the parking lot, collect the bike, the techie said most 1300 on rent are coming back on a breakdown truck, and he had made the right decision!
Utter shite from BMW

Coming off the ferry at santander their was a 1300 stranded as all around left the deck, owner and couple of mates frantically taking seats and luggage off to sort what I guess was a none start problem

Yesterday there was a 1300 on the hard shoulder of the M11. I think the bike was a non starter. The bloke was eating a viscount minty biscuit. Not the orange one. The ones with the foil covering. Minty ones.
There, not their. Minty

That's probably a result of over riding the experienced engineers with computer designers using a "what can we build it more cheaply and lighter and tell them its progress software"
Foookin nightmares waiting to happen to a pal you know - or you !!
