X ADV 750

First bits on order.
As I will definitely take the X-ADV away on a trip, I want a Peak Design mount for my phone to use for navigation.
Thought I’d go down the wireless charging route as not had one yet so found one on Amazon with VAT knocked off and free postage .

There’s a spare accessory port on the ADV designed to plug in to the Honda OE 12V socket .Its secured by a clip just under the TFT in a bracket.

As the Peak Design mount comes with a USB-C cable, can I simply cut it off and wire the cable into the spare accessory socket via a suitable connector ?

I am certain I’ve seen PD selling various (optional) cables to suit any application.

Personally I would never cut any OE plugs or cables.
Yes, saw your message ta.
The cable looks the same whether it’s USB-C or SAE

The SAE version is out of stock

Not going to go down the PD wireless route as also read Wapping’s issues with charging rates . Will just use my standard PD bar mount and get a USB C charger for the bars . Something like this

£12 from Amazon and £6 for the correct plug to slot straight into accessory port on X-ADV

Just ordered the SW Motech Street Rack and Dusc adaptor so I can use any of my Dusc boxes on the X-ADV. ( I have 2 x 41 litre and 1 x 36 litre)

Tweaked the suspension a bit .

Pretty good adjustability with front Pre-load and Rebound and rear Pre-load.

Being a Honda, all the necessary tools are in the tool kit under the seat

The earlier model had an LCD dash

And just two modes . D for Drive and S for Sport.

The new bike has a TFT with many options

IMG_6720.jpegIMG_6722.jpegIMG_6723.jpeg

And fully programmable User modes as well as preset Standard, Sport, Rain and Gravel

So it turns out the accessory plug and connectors I ordered off Amazon after a Facebook recommendation don’t fit BUT you can use the connector already attached to the accessory socket below the TFT

Just unplug the male bit circled from the female

IMG_6803.jpeg
Then you need two flat pins like this

IMG_6804.jpeg

Just remove the two rubber grommets , crimp your wires to pins and push them in , then your USB plug will power up when ignition is on

Sorted

Not many options where to mount on bars but I prefer having the USB-A and USB-C to the OE Honda 12v socket

Cost £15 as opposed to £56 for the Honda socket

I tested a Forza 750 on Monday. I’m interested in the X-ADV750 but as was mentioned previously there aren’t any demos at dealers. This one was a 24my they’d taken in & as it’s the same engine/box they thought I might get a feel for it. Plenty of poke but the box at slow speeds was a pain. I also thought the Forza was a bit bland atheistically & putting your feet down when stopped was uncomfortable as the footplate was quite wide for me. The underseat storage is poor compared to the ADV350 so I’ll be ordering a new ADV350 when the time comes.

There are demo X ADV out there. I tried one a couple of weeks ago, and I’m taking it out again on Monday.

Took this out today. WHAT A HOOT !!!!!!!
In sports mode, down the twisty coast road from Hornsea to Witernsea. The DCT box is a lot better than the previous version, and in sports mode it’s great. Holding the gears to a higher RPM, and changing down earlier so you can really use acceleration sense more effectively. The changes are a LOT better than the older ones.
There are still some little niggles, to me, they could use more of the dashboard for the display. It only fills about 70% of the screen.
Personally, I would like the underseat storage to be like the 350 ADV, but it’s not due to the bigger engine.
I also think it’s got more power compared to the NC750 I had, even though it’s the same engine/transmission.

Pic taken on Sunday by a guy who’s moved here and works for Bikerpics.

The house has had a number related to Liberation Day in Guernsey for decades . It’s updated yearly and the background is usually the Guernsey flag but for the 80th anniversary they did something a bit special
