X ADV 750

is this bike comparable to the GS at all? Would it 'keep up' with a GS in the Pyrenees / Picos, or is it a different type of trip - I can't see a group holiday of GS / tigers / and the ADV being comparable for a days riding together - or is the ADV better than the sum of?
Depends if your a riding with really quick riders or normal peeps. I have managed since April to keep up with GS, 1250Rts etc on trips away and I was on a TMax.

That looks like a really good choice for luggage and very convenient. They look easily as big as the inner bags on a GS with the plastic OEM luggage, would you say they carry as much as those in the way of clothing? I want to do a two up tour to Italy and Croatia and am looking for the best luggage for our needs. Thankfully my wife is happy to travel light.
I’ve not used them yet as bought them for trip to Pyrenees and Alps next May. They’re not huge big combined with 41 litre top box and under seat storage , should he plenty

That’s a NICE thing ,, I have seen a couple with decent alloy boxes on them ,,, I could see once of these in my future 👍

I’ve just got some Givi soft panniers that fit on rods. All quite neat . Think there’s pictures earlier in the thread . Don’t want wide boxes .
Rode it today for first time in a while . Was toying with taking Vstrom 800 on big Spanish / French trip in May instead of X-ADV but I’m sticking with the latter as that was Plan A and it’s ace

Edited to add

These

Looking good. I’m taking a 750 Forza out for a day next month while the bikes in for service.

I like the look of the Givi soft bags, but have stopped buying their stuff since non existent after sales support in UK. Most is decent quality, but heaven help you if it fails?! lol
PS. Does that mean you’re going to remove that big hideous black thing on the back - to make it “vanity” compliant??!! 😜

I finally got to try the X-ADV last week. Like the curate's egg, it is good in parts. It has bits that are better than the TMAX and bits not so good.

The good bits...

Performance. Way faster than the TMAX, both in acceleration and top speed. Easier on a dual carriageway when overtaking and nippier in town.
DCT is better, in my opinion, than CVT. Quicker to respond from a standstill and on the move.
Looks. Subjective. Eye of the beholder and all that, but it's funky.
Riding position. Higher handlebars suit me better, but they are very wide.

The bad bits...

Comfort. The TMAX is way more comfortable.
The dash. Superb on the Yamaha, acceptable on the Honda
Electric screen on the TMAX beats the manual on on the X-ADV
Idiot switchgear on the Honda. Why swap horn and indicators when all other bikes have them in a standard position, as did Honda until recently.

Would I buy either? Well, I didn't. I bought a Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Tour instead. I didn't like either scooter enough to part with my hard earned cash, whereas the Triumph lit my fire immediately.

Curious as ever, are you able to see over that extended windscreen? Or will it be needing windscreen wipers as a future add-on? :green gri

Interesting .
We’re all different but I find the comfort seat and riding position much better on the X-ADV than the TMax.
Dash is just fine .
Has all the info you want .
The horn and indicator switch are swapped over as on other Hondas. Hardly a big deal.
I leave the screen in one position so no point having it electrically operated .

I found the riding position better on the Honda. The bars on the Yamaha were too low for me, but the seat was far more comfortable on the Yamaha. It had more support around my coccyx. Dash wasn't a deal breaker as evidenced by me buying a Tiger Sport with a dash from the naughties, which also has all the info I need, but could be better presented.
On my Pan European I like being able to adjust the screen on the fly. It wasn't something I'd considered before but like other bike developments, I'd come to appreciate it.
Honda switchgear irritates me. Too many buttons on some, wrong position on others. Yes, I could get used to it but it was change for change's sake, not progress.

As you said, we're all different. I'd rather have either scooter than no bike, but neither would be my first choice.

To be fair, I’ve got the comfort seat on my X-ADV and you probably ride one with an OE seat
