Evening all , recently bought gsa1200 with 7.5 k on it, I replaced the FPC yesterday, ( after missing out on the best driving weather EVER!), and was rearin to go for a good spin today , got to bunmahon in the lovely waterford, and EWS showed up , I'm sure there is quite a few of you out there .. who are familiar with this bad boy, after a quick google with my better half,via phone link up..it appears to have to go to main dealer, on horseback, for yet another repeating fault on this slightly expensive hi- tech machine.
had a gs 650 for last 4 years and not a bother

ITS NOT ******* GOOD ENOUGH BMW!!!

FPC = Fuel Pump Controller
EWS = Electronic ? ?
Can someone explain please?
Fairly new to this and still learning (650 Twin owner)

EWS

EWS= Elektronik Wegfahr Sperre, (anti theft immobiliser).A show stopper as its caused by the famous ring antenna failing. Lots of info on this site if you search.

The wags here would say EWS= Engine wont start:augie

sorry, fpc is the fuel pump controller, and ews means the antenna in the immobiliser-ignition bit is knackered and with both faults the bike if grounded less of course you carry the parts with you, many do!

What year is the bike?
It should have been changed by dealer over the last year or so(free of charge)
Maybe it was and you were unlucky to get a dodgy replacement?

its 06 and was talking to kearys in cork, and they reckon it can be done on a recall... hopefully!

one more thing , i would encourage all owners to ensure they have recovery insurance, mine came with carole nash... would have been well snookered without it , was travelling about with a tenner in the pocket, no good to anyone!

get Keary's to post you an EWS yoke, fit it temporary and ride the thing there. Or fit it yourself if you have time, 6mm dia drill, and a bit of patience.

thanks for the heads up on temp fix bin, the bike is in kearys brought down on recovery truck(paid for by Carol nash), and will be done on recall.

bike now being comforted at home and all is well, shouldnt have gone to kearys though.. lusting after more toys :blast have u seen the hp2.. jesus is that some animal!
back on the road thank ****!
